Zoo Tycoon 2 Description
Zoo Tycoon 2 for PC brings a continuation to a very popular economic game. The player's task is to run their own zoo here. The sequel to Zoo Tycoon gives an opportunity to acquire specimen of about thirty animal species – each of those has to remain controlled at all times. The player also needs to make sure they have adequately-trained staff – animal trainers, cleaners, security members or entertainers for guests of one's zoo. A lot of building types were included here. The player begins with building cages for animals, but one also needs to take care of structures for amusement or objects making the entire place more attractive, such as lanterns, benches, gardens, fountains or stylish bridges. The game's interface is simplified, so it is easy for the player to manipulate the zone they own. Financing the zoo is an important element of the experience. The player has to pay attention to many significant factors, such as ticket prices or salaries of one's employees. A few standard game modes were included: the sandbox mode, the career, and the free-form mode, which is devoid of any limitations.
Gameplay
Zoo Tycoon 2 for PC utilizes a fully three-dimensional environment. The player can zoom the view in and out, but also rotate the perspective. Introducing a 3D environment created room for the possibilities to modify the zoo, so the player can now build far more sophisticated structures. Zoo Tycoon 2 introduces a lot of significant innovations into the experience. The creators prepared many interesting training missions that can get the player familiar with the rules. One can use the help option at any time, and this element was extended here. The creators placed a large emphasis on giving an opportunity to admire the beauty of one's animals; the player can take photos in the game and place them in a special folder or send to the game's website. Interestingly, the game brings the Keeper Mode, which focuses on taking care of animals and training them. Guest Mode is the last new component brought by the sequel – the player assumes the role of a guest at a zoo. The game has an in-built encyclopedia (Zoopedia), which contains information about the species of animals one currently breeds.

Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals
Expansion
Strategy
October 16, 2007
An expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2, developed by the creators of the core game, Blue Fang Games. The add-on is the biggest one created for the game so far, as it introduces thirty new species, such as dodos, Tasmanian tigers, and even dinosaurs, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex. You task is to make sure they have the best living conditions possible (which means they have to resemble the animals' natural habitat), so that the beautiful and well-kept specimens will attract more visitors, who will pay you money. That, in turn allows you to further develop your zoo. The expansion requires the core game to run and does not introduce any changes to the mechanics or the visuals.
Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania
Expansion
Strategy
October 17, 2006
Another expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2, developed by the creators of the core game, Blue Fang Games. The expansion adds twenty new species, such as killer whales, bottlenose dolphins, sea turtles, and sea rays, as well as new decorations, buildings, and attractions for your visitors. Zoo Tycoon 2: Marine Mania also expands the animal interactions systems; you can now train choreography with them, which allows you to organize shows that attract more tourists, and that, in turn, increases your income. Other new additions include ten new scenarios. The expansion is not standalone, which means it requires the core game to run.
Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure
Expansion
Strategy
May 22, 2006
An add-on for Zoo Tycoon 2, the second installment in the economic strategy game series, in which you play as the manager of a virtual zoo. The expansion, developed by Blue Fang Games, adds African scenery and animals. The new species include white rhinos, bongo antelopes, and striped hyenas. Zoo Tycoon 2: African Adventure also allows you to place new type of exposition in your zoo; thanks to a mini-safari, the visitors can now see the animals in an environment closely resembling their natural habitat. Other additions include new African-themed buildings and patterns, and new missions and tasks. The expansion requires the core game to run.
Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species
Expansion
Strategy
October 18, 2005
An expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2, developed by the creators of the core game, Blue Fang Games. The expansion allows you to feature some of the rarest endangered species, such as Komodo dragons, koala bears, orangutans, and Galapagos tortoises, in your zoo. To ensure their survival, you have to make sure they live in the conditions that resemble their natural habitat as closely as possible. Since your primary goal is to attract as many visitors as possible, you have to build many observation points or even bridges above various cages. In Zoo Tycoon 2: Endangered Species you can also take your visitors on a car ride, allowing them to observe the animals from a closer distance, which increases your income (satisfied visitors pay you more money). There is also an educational center, which allows your visitors to learn additional information about certain species. The expansion requires the core game to run.
