An expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2, developed by the creators of the core game, Blue Fang Games. The add-on is the biggest one created for the game so far, as it introduces thirty new species, such as dodos, Tasmanian tigers, and even dinosaurs, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Zoo Tycoon 2: Extinct Animals for PC is another expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2, an economic strategy game, in which you manage your own zoo. As the title suggests, the expansion focuses on extinct animals. The add-on was developed by Blue Fang Games and published by Microsoft Games Studios.
Mechanics
Extinct Animals is, according to the developers, the biggest expansion for Zoo Tycoon 2 to date. The main novelty is the introduction of 30 new species, such as Tasmanian tigers, dodos, and dinosaurs, including the T-Rex.
During the game, you have to focus on making sure that the animals have the best living conditions you can provide, as close to their natural habitat as possible. You also have to expand your zoo, since it is here for the visitors, so you have to do everything you can in order for them to come, pay you money, and be impressed enough to visit again.
Technical aspects
The game's interface is very clear and should not pose a challenge even to beginner economic strategy players. The animals' behavior and habits have been faithfully recreated in 3D. You can freely rotate and zoom the camera to see all the details you want. Furthermore, you can also see everything from a visitor's perspective and assess the results of your work through their eyes. There is also an option to take pictures and showcase them in galleries.
