A sandbox platform game by indie studio Re-Logic, sometimes called the 2D version of the popular Minecraft. There is no set goal; your task is basically to shape the randomly-generated world around you. At first you only have a few basic tools, which allow you to dig and find resources, chop wood, and create simple structures. As the game progresses, due to the extensive crafting system, you discover better tools, allowing you to create advanced materials and to fight monsters. There are many possibilities in the game, and the only restriction is your own imagination. Terraria features a single player mode, but you can join forces with other players, thus gaining precious allies, who can help you with the more challenging tasks.

Rayman Legends

An action 2D platform game starring a sympathetic creature of a protagonist. The game was developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and is the fifth full-fledged installment in the series created by Michel Ancel. This time the titular protagonist and his friend Globox must face nightmares which have created amazing worlds during the 100 years they have spent in the Crossroads of Dreams. Rayman must also free the Teensies captured by the clone of the deceptive Magician. Gameplay mechanics and the visual style of Rayman Legends are similar to the mechanics and style of the previous Rayman game (Rayman Origins). The new features in the game include musical levels and a system that allows other players to freely join the game in split-screen cooperation mode.

Child of Light is a 2D RPG that combines the elements of modern platformers and Japanese role-playing games. It was developed by Ubisoft Montreal, a subsidiary of Ubisoft which also collaborated in the development of Far Cry and Assassin Creed games. Child of Light tells the story of Aurora, a young girl who has to save the kingdom of Lemuria. When playing, we influence Aurora's development and witness her rough journey to adulthood. The game is presented in a perspective typical for platform games, and the turn-based combat system is inspired by the jRPG genre. During her adventures, Aurora explores a vast, living world, where she encounters friendly fairies, gnomes, and sneaky monsters. Child of Light offers single player and multiplayer modes. In the latter, the second player takes on the role of a friendly firefly.

A two-dimensional shooter which takes place in the gangster underworld during the 20s. The game was developed by a small Belgium studio Crazy Monkey. In the title the player assumes the role of a gangster whose family terrorizes the streets. However, trouble begins when a rival mafia appears in the city. What’s worse, hordes of zombies are conquering the streets. The protagonist of the game hits the streets equipped with various weapons – from Molotov Cocktails, through machetes, pistols and rifles, to flamethrowers – in order to face the increasing threat. The gameplay of the game focuses on eliminating waves of enemies in various locations placed in open and closed areas. Bonuses hidden on the map provide additional motivation – they allow us to upgrade our weapons and unlock new game modes. The graphics of the game consists of comic book-like, hand drawn graphics and cartoonish cutscenes.

The title was produced by Ron Gilbert and the development team from Double Fine studio (Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Stacking and others). The action of The Cave takes place in the title cave, full of secrets and traps. The player directs the actions of a group of three heroes who roam the corridors of the cave in search of an enigmatic "something". (the goals vary depending on the chosen team composition).

A sequel to a platform/puzzle action game developed by Frozenbyte. The story of the original game was set in a colorful, magical fantasy world. Trine 2 once again presents the adventures of the three characters bound together by the power of an artifact known as Trine. Amadeus, Zoya and, Pontius are brought to a fairytale land inhabited by goblins. Their task is to discover the truth behind the actions of the malicious creatures and to prevent them from achieving their goals. Similar to the original game, Trine 2 is a two-dimensional platformer. The gameplay features arcade elements (jumping, fighting, etc.) and puzzle solving. The main characters have gained new abilities and can also search for hidden treasures and bottles containing experience points. The sequel features also a new game mode, implementing cooperative online multiplayer.

An adventure-platformer featuring puzzle elements. It was developed by the Finnish Frozenbyte studio, known for Shadowgrounds - a series of isometric shooters. The story is set in a colorful fantasy world, where the player gets to lead a team of three characters: a wizard, a knight and a thief. Using a mysterious device called Trine, they must save the kingdom from the undead. The gameplay mechanics were inspired by classic platformers. The player explores subsequent game levels while avoiding traps, solving puzzles and fighting enemies. Each of the three characters has some unique abilities, and the player can switch between them at any time. The wizard can summon various objects, the thief has significant ranged capabilities and the knight simply packs a punch. The game stands out with very magical atmosphere of the visuals and an ample color palette.

Oldschool platformer with elements of a slasher game inspired by such classic titles as Shadow of the Beast or the early installments in the Castlevania series. Slain! is a debut production of independent studio Wolf Brew Games. You play as a sole hero named Bathoryn, who tries to liberate the game’s fantasy world from the tyranny of seven evil lords residing in seven high towers. Each level in Slain! is split into two different sections. Initially, your task is to fight your way to a tower using sword and magic. Next, you have to climb the tower, which means not only fighting, but also multiple platforming sequences and occasional logic puzzles. The game is characterized by a high level of difficulty and oldschool, pixel-art graphics drawing heavily from gothic themes. Gameplay is accompanied by a heavy metal soundtrack created by a former member of a popular band Celtic Frost.

An action-platform game developed by independent Swedish studio Image & Form. The game takes place in an unusual universe that combines the traits of steampunk and Wild West settings. Once human civilization had fallen and the Homo sapiens was reduced to cave-dwelling troglodytes, weird creatures that are mostly robots became the new dominant species. One of them is the main protagonist of the game, Rusty. While looking for remains of human civilization, he starts a journey deep into the ground, where he looks for interesting treasures. During the game the player is traveling through caves, avoiding traps, fighting enemies, collecting minerals and making sure to always have access to light. The protagonist can use various useful tools that enable him to decide in which direction should the tunnel be dug. After filling the backpack we return to the surface and trade the minerals we've found for various goods and upgrades for the protagonist.

An indie game by an experienced developer, who has worked on such productions as End of Nations, Tiger Woods, and NFL Street. In Axiom Verge you play as a man called Trace, who dies and is reborn in a fantasy world, where futuristic and archaic technologies blend. Trace quickly asserts that the new environment and the beings inhabiting it are trying to kill him. The protagonist explores locations filled with traps and enemies as he runs, jumps, and shoots with a gun. Apart from regular opponents, sometimes you face boss enemies. You can use over 20 types of weapons, including an electric rifle and a plasma grenade launcher. You can also earn over 60 modifications, which upgrade your fighting skills. The game's mechanics, 2D visuals, and the overall dark style were inspired by classic SNES productions, such as Castlevania.

Funny platformer with RPG elements. An ordinary boy unwittingly moves from an RPG session straight into a dungeon straight from fantasy games. The hero has to face powerful enemies lurking in the underworld. The production resembles such hits as Castlevania. However, its characteristic feature is a huge portion of good humour. Interestingly, Unepic is available in the Polish language version.

Mighty No. 9

Mighty No. 9 is an arcade platformer developed in 2.5D by the experienced Japanese developer Comcept; the title draws inspiration from the renowned Mega Man series. The storyline is focused on the character of mighty Beck, the only robot who resisted an extremely dangerous virus, which arouses aggression among mechanical beings. It is the task of our protagonist to eliminate the danger and return the order to the world of the robots. The gameplay mechanics in Mighty No. 9 are very similar to those of the classic 8 and 16 bit console era hits, and during our playthroughs we are faced with a lot of running, jumping through consecutive ledges or platforms, and combat, where we have the chance to use our hero’s powers and abilities. During the skirmishes we are occasionally aided by an additional character, which appears in the moments of greatest danger. The newest Comcept production is powered by Unreal Engine technology; in addition to the single player campaign it also offers a special mode for challenges and the opportunity to cooperate with other users through the Internet.

Two-dimensional platformer developed by the team at Way Forward Technologies. The game is another entry in a series that originally launched in 2002 on Game Boy Color. The story of Shantae: Half-Genie Hero takes place in fairy tale-like land, inspired by the One Thousand and One Nights. A half-genie, half-human heroine takes off to a different dimension to fight against a recklessly freed ancient evil. Gameplay is based on the Castlevania and Metroid series, so it comes down to exploration, solving puzzles and fighting enemies, including challenging bosses. Heroine's main weapons are her incredibly strong hair and the ability to change into magical beasts by performing certain dancing moves. As we progress our protagonist gathers experience points, which she uses to unlock more skills – namely, changing into new beasts.

In Badland we take control over unspecified creature and our task is to lead it through levels filled with various obstacles and traps. However, the game is complicated by the fact that we are gradually joined by more of our hero's brethren, so as the game progresses we are forced to control more and more creatures.
