Oldschool platformer with elements of a slasher game inspired by such classic titles as Shadow of the Beast or the early installments in the Castlevania series. Slain! is a debut production of independent studio Wolf Brew Games. You play as a sole hero named Bathoryn, who tries to liberate the game’s fantasy world from the tyranny of seven evil lords residing in seven high towers. Each level in Slain! is split into two different sections.

Slain! is an old-school action game released on all major platforms and presented in the form of a 2D platform slasher featuring a gothic climate and retro design. The production was inspired by the NES installments in the Castlevania series, as well as classics such as Shadow of the Beast or Ghosts ‘n Goblins. The PC version is the debut work of the independent studio Wolf Brew Games, consisting of several people with considerable experience in the gaming industry.

The story is not the most developed part of Slain!. We simply assume the role of a character named Bathoryn who seeks to liberate seven towers located in a fantastical land from their evil rulers.

A bit more depth can be found in the game's mechanics. The main goal of the player is to fight his way through numerous opponents appearing on the screen. For this purpose, we can unleash devastating sword combos, but nothing stops us from using magic as well. Each of the seven levels is divided into two sections: in the first one we need to reach the tower, and in the second one, more platform-like in character, we climb to the top of the building, not only fighting, but also jumping on platforms and occasionally solving logic puzzles. Each level is concluded with a fight against a powerful boss.
