Armikrog
Adventure
August 23, 2016
An extraordinary point-and-click adventure game and a spiritual successor to the legendary The Neverhood, a game developed in 1996 by Doug TenNapel. This new title was created by the author of the original game, who managed to gather nearly entire old staff back together for this project. The story tells of the adventures of a likeable alien named Tommynaut, who survives a spacecraft crash and finds himself on a strange planet, where together with his companion, dog Beak-Beak, the hero gets captured and locked in the titular stronghold of Armikrog. What distinguishes the game, is its unique artwork – in-game locations and character models were made of plasticine and brought to life using time-lapse technique. This time-consuming work was done by a number of puppeteers, animators, and sculptors. Thanks to their work, the developers managed to recreate the unique atmosphere of the original game, which, apart from interesting story and a cast of likeable characters, offered a large doze of wacky humor.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2

The story of the second installment picks up one year after the events shown by its predecessor, allowing the players to control the team of heroes aided by an amiable creature named Critter – one might remember all these characters from the first game. Gameplay mechanics haven't changed significantly and they still draw from the solutions typical for point & click adventure games. During the game, the players have to solve many new riddles – in order to do this, one is bound to use the characters’ unique skills. Like in its predecessor, the gameplay in The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is filled with humor making fun of the fantasy clichés found in many books, movies, and games (such as The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, The Song of Ice and Fire, Discworld, and World of Warcraft). The visuals have been significantly improved but the game still features the same specific style one might remember from the first installment.

The player is tasked with exploring complex maze-like levels that contain both action sequences as well as demanding riddles.
