Crossbow Warrior: The Legend of William Tell, released on PC, AND, etc., is a platformer inspired by the legend of one of the most famous, real medieval heroes - Wilhelm Tell. The game was created by an independent Swiss studio Moby Dick Games, specializing in simple mobile productions.
Plot
The plot of Crossbow Warrior: The Legend of William Tell faithfully recreates the true story of the famous Swiss hero, who was captured and put to an extraordinary test by a local starost for refusing to pay homage to a symbol of imperial power. The famous crossbowman was to shoot down an apple placed on the head of his son Walter. If he failed - both of them would die. Although Tell was victorious, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for his attempt to murder the starost. During his transport to the cell at Küssnacht fortress, Wilhelm managed to escape and soon afterward he killed the starost. His heroic deed gave a signal for an uprising, as a result of which his kinsmen managed to liberate themselves from the imperial power.
Mechanics
In terms of mechanics, Crossbow Warrior is mainly a classic 2.5D platformer, in which, despite the fully three-dimensional world, we move only to the right or left. Most of the 29 stages boil down to running and jumping on the platforms, avoiding various traps and fighting against the encountered opponents and slightly more demanding bosses. Our main weapon is a crossbow. However, the authors decided to diversify the gameplay and, apart from the classic platforming levels, they introduced several bonus levels, in which, for example, we check our sharpshooter skills or use a boat to run away from the army.
Technical aspects
Crossbow Warrior: The Legend of William Tell features colorful hand-drawn graphics and epic soundtrack. The authors also took care of an intuitive control system and full gamepads support.
