[0:52] Tokyo Xtreme Racer - Trailer #1
Tokyo Xtreme Racer Description
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is a series of racing games dedicated to street competition in Japan, in existence since 1994 and also known r?words such as Tokyo Highway Battle and Shutoko Battle. The item described here is the first "big" (i.e., not for mobile devices) installment of the series in more than 18 years, following the 2006 games Import Tuner Challenge (for X360) and Tokyo Xtreme Racer Drift 2 (for PS2). Japanese studio Genki is responsible for all these projects.
Gameplay
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is set in the near future, in a cut-off Tokyo. The place of action is the streets of the Japanese capital, or more precisely, the network of expressways crisscrossing the city, which has been recreated in accordance with reality, as an open map. We compete there, driving dozens of licensed cars - iconic and contemporary models of brands such as Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, Mazda and Suzuki.
Vehicles can be tuned, increasing their performance with mechanical upgrades. We can apply the so-called nitro and put on tires of different types (while doing so, we must keep an eye on the degree of tire wear). We also modify the appearance of the cars - change bumpers, hoods or rear wings, as well as decorate the body with our own paint.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer offers a specific form of competition with hundreds of virtual drivers, endowed with individual personalities and stories. Racing in traffic takes the form of "spirit point battles" (Spirit Point Battle). What counts in them is not only speed, but also beating the "stamina" bar of opponents by performing maneuvers that lead to breaking their will to fight.
