Inspired by the Nordic mythology, a cRPG developed by the independent studio Stoic, whose members worked on, for example, Star Wars: The Old Republic. The action takes us to a world where fratricidal bloodshed between the gods led to chaos and wars.

Forbes: 8 / 10 by Erik Kain
As an audio-visual experience, The Banner Saga is hard to beat. Tough choices and an elegant combat system help make the game fun and engaging right up to the end. With a few tweaks to the resource management system and some real soul-searching on enemy variety, Stoic could have a really terrific game on their hands. They're not there yet, but they're on the right track.

The Banner Saga Description
The Banner Saga for PC, AND and etc. is a turn-based RPG inspired by the Nordic mythology. This is a debut project by the independent Stoic studio set up by Arnie Jorgensen, Alex Thomas, and John Watson – the key trio in creating Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Plot
The plot revolves around a group of Vikings who are escaping from the looming doom. The action takes place in a fantasy world inspired by the Nordic mythology and the scenarios are written in a road story style. The developers made use of their previous experience and created a game that forces the player to make difficult decisions. Dialogues are kept in a cinematic convention characteristic for Bioware productions.
Mechanics
The Banner Saga is a tactic RPG enriched with adventure elements. As the turn-based combat system is the core of the game, you fight on maps divided into square tiles. With the progress, the heroes get experience and become more powerful. The final objective is to take a large group of Vikings to some safe place, so it is important to take care of other members of the group, not only those in your team.
Technical aspects
The Banner Saga published on PC, AND and etc. features beautiful 2D visuals. The creators were mostly inspired by Eyvind Earle – an American artist widely known for developing the graphic style for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. In the outcome, The Banner Saga offers bright colours and cartoon characters and at the same time maintains the seriousness of the story.
