Continuation of a sports game from 1999. Just like the original, the production focuses on skateboarding a variety of routes. The player's task is not only to achieve the best time results, but also to perform spectacular tricks. In addition to campaign and free game mode, Street Skater 2 offers a level editor and a multiplayer mode for two players. A big advantage of the production is its licensed soundtrack.
Street Skater 2 on PS1 (known as Street Sk8er 2 in North America) is a continuation of Street Skater released back in 1999. Like its predecessor, the sequel is a sports game focusing on effective skateboarding. The game was developed by Atelier Double.
Mechanics
In Street Skater 2 on PS1, the player's task is to overcome obstacles, ramps and railings in the quickest and most effective way possible. As in the original game, the player has to complete a level within the time limit and get enough points. You get them by performing tricks. The locations are filled with secrets, side paths and hidden shortcuts, thanks to which replaying the same race do not get bored too quickly.
Game modes
Besides the competitions, Street Skater 2 on PS1 offers a free game mode where players can explore previously unblocked tracks without time limits. The game also offers a level editor. Fans of playing with friends can play in a multiplayer mode on a split screen or via a special cable connecting two consoles.
Technical aspects
Compared to its predecessor released a year earlier, Street Skater 2 on PS1 offers much nicer visuals. Both the tracks and the contestants have become more detailed and the animations more fluid. Again, a big attraction of the title is the soundtrack, containing songs by such artists as Deftones, Ministry, Citizen King, Shootyz Groove or 8stops7.
