Street Skater Description
Street Skater is a sports game released on PS1. In North America, the game was released as Street Sk8er while in Japan it is known as Street Boarders and The Skateboard. The game focuses on riding on a skateboard and performing spectacular tricks.. Street Skater was produced by Atelier Double.
Mechanics
The game is based on rules similar to those of snowboard games, such as Cool Boarders. The player's task is to copmplete tracks quickly. The levels are filled with various obstacles, ramps and handrails, making it easier to perform spectacular acrobatics. The tricks are important - completing a track within the time limit isn't enough, you also need the points to win..
Before each race, the player must choose one of the different characters. In addition to the initial four available characters, we can unlock two extra characters. At the end of the competition, the player's avatar gains experience points, thanks to which we can increase their speed, jumping skills and efficiency in performing tricks. The creators have prepared three different levels, each with more attractive secrets.
Technical aspects
The graphics of Street Skater are average. Both the competitors' models and the environments were made in full 3D. A big advantage of the game is its soundtrack, filled with songs of such punk bands as H20, Less Than Jake, The Pietasters, I Against I or Gas Huffer.
