Cool Boarders 2, released on PS1, is a continuation of Cool Boarders, a well-received snowboard game from 1996. The sequel was created by the creators of the original game, UEP Systems. Cool Boarders 2 adds, among other things, the option to race against opponents controlled by artificial intelligence or a second player.
Mechanics
Cool Boarders 2, available on PS1, is a typical representative of snowboard games. The main goal of the game is to slide down from the top of the mountain (there are a dozen or so slopes here) as fast and effective as possible. Compared to its predecessor, the tracks have been extended and now some of them have shortcuts and optional jumps which allow you to earn additional points.
The game offers seven snowboarders and eighteen boards. We can also race other competitors on the same track. They are controlled by artificial intelligence or by a second player.
Game modes
Cool Boarders 2 has five modes. Freestyle is a variant of races which gives the greatest freedom. Here, both the time needed to complete the route and the tricks performed on the way count. In Halfpipe mode, the rush is no longer advisable, but it is important to perform the most effective tricks. In Big Air mode, the tracks are filled with hills where the player tries to fly as far and impressively as possible. In Competition, we race against other players, while Board Park allows for stress-free practice.
