A series of action adventure games set in the umagicized realities of feudal Japan. The brand is considered one of the six most important in Capcom's publishing portfolio.
Considered the father of the series Onimusha is considered to be Yoshiki Okamoto. The first installment of the series - Onimusha: Warlords was originally developed with the PlayStation console in mind. However, Capcom executives decided to move the project to the more powerful PlayStation 2 and start development from scratch. Eventually the game landed on store shelves in 2001, and a year later it lived to see a conversion to other hardware platforms and a full-fledged sequel - Onimusha. Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny. For the third part of the series - Onimusha 3: Demon Siege gamers had to wait until 2004. In addition to the mainstream brand, the developers were also tempted by several spin-offs like Onimusha Tactics (2003), Onimusha Blade Warriors (2003) or Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (2005), as well as the browser-based production Onimusha Soul (2012).
The plot of the Onimusha series of games is set in the realities of feudal Japan from the Sengoku era, which are enriched with supernatural elements. The protagonists are often historical figures like Jubei Yagyu or Soki, who have to face Oda Nobunaga, his vassal Toyotomi Hideyoshi and the demonic creatures Genma.
The gameplay combines elements of a third-person action game in the style of hack'n'slash and adventure. The main character is a sword master, gifted with the power to absorb souls from defeated enemies, which allows him to regenerate health and increase the power of weapons, armor and special abilities.
Capcom's financial reports show that by the end of June 2013, total sales of games in the series of Onimusha reached 7.9 million copies, with the series achieving its greatest popularity on the PlayStation 2 console.

The fifth part of the slasher series from Capcom. In Onimusha: Way of the Sword we play as one of the titular warriors, exploring a fantasy version of Kyoto from the Edo period. Our main job is eliminating hordes of monsters, using a katana or a unique Oni Gauntlet.

In anticipation of the third part, Onimusha Blade Warriors product came into the hands of supporters. The game is very similar in character to the Nintendo series - Super Smash Bros. It takes the characters from Onimusha's world to a kind of battle arena.

Once upon a time, when there were no combat passes, photorealistic graphics, or open worlds, and the industry was just taking off, one of, in my opinion, the coolest samurai series ever was leading the way - Capcom's Onimusha.
