Road to Vostok is a hardcore, singleplayer survival FPP game. The action is set in postapocalyptic world, specifically on the border of Finland and Russia. We can visit locations modeled on real places.
Plot
The game world consists of three zones: Zone 05 (where we start the adventure), Border Zone and Vostok.
The last one was designed as a zone for experienced players. Getting to it and acquiring skills to survive in it is our main goal in Road to Vostok.
Game mechanics
In Road to Vostok we will experience survival elements like crafting or taking care of our character's needs - including body temperature and mental state. There are also various quests to do and merchants who sell goods.
Game offers dynamic events such as drops of supplies or bandits' ambushes. We will also find here the weather system.
The game does not offer one large open world. Instead, the area has been divided into several individual maps (varying in size), on which and between which we can freely move by means of special "transit points", such as underground tunnels.
Area 05
The maps in Area 05 are of moderate difficulty level. However, the further east you go, the harder it gets - although you can count on better loot if you continue in that direction.
There are hiding places scattered around Area 05. They are the only place where you can save the game. If we die in this area, we lose all the items we carry, but those stored in hiding places remain untouched.
Vostok
There is only one hidden hideout in Vostok, which location changes every time you enter the game. Unlike the hiding places in Phase 05, this one can't be upgraded.
Vostok has a permanent death system. If we die there, we lose all our items and save files.
Border
Vostok is separated from Area 05 by the Border zone. We can cross it only in special border crossings. Each of them requires from the player a good knowledge of the game.
Technical aspects
Road to Vostok runs on Unity engine. Although on the day of release/early access the game included only single player mode, the developer does not exclude the possibility of implementing both multiplayer and mod support in the future. He also plans two demo versions of the game.
About the creator
Game was developed by Road to Vostok, a one-man studio. Its creator is a former lieutenant in the Finnish armed forces. He lives not far from the mentioned border. Thanks to that, the world presented in it was created with great attention to details.
