Corpse Party takes place in a high school building that was built on the ruins of an old grade school in which a terrible and mysterious crime has occurred. One day, due to unexplainable events, a group of students enters a terrible and grotesque version of their school in which the corridors are filled with decomposing corpses. Trapped in the building, the main characters must face the mysteries of the building and the revenge-seeking ghosts of the dead children. The game uses typical gameplay mechanics of visual novel games, although it also contains exploration and even action sequences. The story has several different endings that depend on the choices made by the player.

Pyre’s gameplay contains two fundamental parts. We travel in a special coach that is also used to manage our companions and make decisions that affect the land and its inhabitants. However, there is another and more important part of the game, in form of skirmishes we take part in, which combines features of MOBA and sport titles. A team of three characters must get a hold of a special ball and take it to enemy’s base.

Nevertheless, his life changes dramatically when he meets former professor of Kurisu and his research team, conducting research on a unique technology. By taking part in the experiment, our protagonist may be able to make contact with an AI that is a simulation of his dead friend. When it comes to gameplay, Steins;Gate 0 is a typical visual novel. The gameplay focuses on following the plot and dialogues, with some occasional decision making which influences the course of the story and leads to one of its alternative endings.

Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness takes place in the world of Psycho-Pass, a popular science-fiction anime series. We are introduced to a grim version of 2113, in which a complex computer system called Sybil monitors the actions, thoughts, and emotional state of the inhabitants, creating a criminal behavior estimate for every citizen. If the probability is too high, the troublemaker is pursued by the police that neutralizes him on the spot. The game, taking place during the first six episodes of the animated series, enables us to assume the role of two new members of the investigating outfit: Takuma Tsurugi, an executor who’ve been sentenced by the system, but chose to join the police forces, and Nadeshiko Kugatachi, a woman with without memory who works as an Inspector, a person supervising the work of Executors. The game sees us follow the plot, shown through text, pictures, and short animated sequences. From time to time, we are given a choice of a few alternative actions, while our decision affect the possible outcomes of the story.

The main heroine of the game is Ayami Ito, who carries out an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of her partner. In order to find the truth, she needs to take matters in her own hands. Things become complicated as she also has to face the demons of her own past, nightmares, and hallucinations. The non-linear plot leads to one of eleven endings, depending on the player’s in-game choices. During gameplay of Tokyo Dark, you explore diverse locations, collect useful items, solve puzzles, chat with non-player characters, and take decisions – sometimes having only seconds – that will shape the attributes and the nature of Ito, along with the way NPCs treat her. The action is pushed forward once you draw conclusions based on the followed leads. The action has an anime style, and the grim soundtrack is composed by Matt “Bison” Steed, the leader of the trash metal band Reign of Fury.

The action of Root Letter takes place in present-day Japan, with players taking control of a thirty-something man who discovers long forgotten letters that he had exchanged fifteen years ago with a penfriend named Aya Fumino. Her last letter contains a murder confession, and states that she has to atone for her sin. After that, she suddenly broke off all contact. One day, our hero decides to learn the truth about the ominous letter, and find Fumino. When it comes to mechanics, Root Letter is similar to classic visual novels, but the players are left with much more opportunities to interact or influence the course of the gameplay, which is further diversified by investigative minigames. Depending on the decisions made throughout the game, the story is concluded by one of five different endings.
