Plants vs Zombies

A game belonging to the popular tower defense genre. It's theme, however, is rather unusual, for the players' task is to protect their household against the attacking hordes of zombies. The game was developed by PopCap Games - a company popular for successful arcade-logic games, such as Peggle Deluxe or Bejeweled. In Plants vs Zombies, the levels are made of paths along which the zombies are coming. The player's task is to secure each of those paths. Interestingly, the player's fortification comprises of various plants and flowers growing outside of their house. Each kind of plant has a unique ability. These include things like production the in-game currency, attacking, slowing down the enemies, or exploding in front of them. Zombies are equally diversified - there are many types of attackers, differing in appearance, equipment, and armor. All the subtleties of gameplay are gradually revealed and explained to the players. The game stands out with its atmosphere of comedy, deprived of serious undertones and tension. This was achieved mainly by colorful visuals and a cheerful soundtrack.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

A sequel to the 2010’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, a hack ‘n’ slash game. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and its prequel were both developed by Mercury Steam Entertainment in cooperation with Konami. The players learn the further fate of Gabriel Belmont. The protagonist fell victim to evil and transformed into a Lord of Shadow. After centuries of loneliness and anguish, his old friend, Zobek, extends an unusual offer to him: setting him free from the curse of vampirism in exchange for help in fighting Satan. The action takes place in two words simultaneously—a dark, futuristic town and a medieval castle. The core of the gameplay is combat against hordes of enemies that can be exterminated with sword, claws, and special vampire abilities.

Resident Evil: Revelations

A survival horror action game initially released exclusively for Nintendo 3DS. Resident Evil: Revelations is a spin-off installment of the Resident Evil series, created and developed by Capcom. The action takes place in 2005, between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. The players have the opportunity to accompany Jill Valentine and Parker Luciani in their search for Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawa. The trail leads to a ship called Queen Zenobia, the people aboard of which were infected by the t-Virus. Apart from the story campaign, Resident Evil: Revelations also offers the Raid Mode, a set of missions to perform solo or in cooperation with another person.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow

Another full-fledged installment in the legendary series of action games, developed by the Spanish developer Mercury Steam in cooperating with Konami - the creators of all the previous installments. The protagonist is called Gabriel and he is a member of the Brotherhood of Light. The organization fights evil forces, and Gabriel is given a mission to eliminate the titular Lords of Shadow. However, Gabriel has a personal goal to achieve as well, for he wishes to find and obtain a magical mask, the artifact required to bring his murdered wife back to life. In terms of mechanics, the game reshapes the standard platforming elements of the franchise to fit into the third-person action convention. The player traverses the game world on foot or on horseback, eliminating hordes of enemies encountered on the roads, and facing powerful, demanding bosses. The player makes use of several basic weapon types, including the token combat cross. The combat skills of the protagonist are improved as the game progresses.

An adventure game designed by Benoit Sokal, the famous Belgian comic writer, in cooperation with studio Microids. Syberia is the first chapter of the adventures of Kate Walker, an American lawyer hired by the company that produces automatons – mechanical toys. She is tasked with finishing the formalities related to taking over a factory located in a small city in Europe. The game begins when the protagonist arrives at the factory and learns that its owner, Anna Voralberg, is dead. In order to complete her mission, Kate must find her heir. The task pushes her to embark on the greatest adventure of her life. During the journey she will visit various climatic and mysterious places located in the Eastern Europe and she will meet many interesting people. Since it's a typical point-and-click adventure game, the gameplay consists mostly of exploring locations, solving riddles and speaking with non-playable characters. Syberia is famous for its climatic graphics with pre-rendered, hand-drawn backgrounds.

Trine 2: Complete Story

A sequel to a platform/puzzle action game developed by Frozenbyte. The story of the original game was set in a colorful, magical fantasy world. Trine 2 once again presents the adventures of the three characters bound together by the power of an artifact known as Trine. Amadeus, Zoya and, Pontius are brought to a fairytale land inhabited by goblins. Their task is to discover the truth behind the actions of the malicious creatures and to prevent them from achieving their goals. Similar to the original game, Trine 2 is a two-dimensional platformer. The gameplay features arcade elements (jumping, fighting, etc.) and puzzle solving. The main characters have gained new abilities and can also search for hidden treasures and bottles containing experience points. The sequel features also a new game mode, implementing cooperative online multiplayer.

A two-dimensional platform game with traits of an adventure game and a stealth game. The title, developed by Oddworld Inhabitants, takes place in an unknown planet inhabited by the race of Mudokons. The main protagonist of the game, Abe, is a Mudokon as well. The race is being abused by evil Glukkons, who force them to slave labor in a mine. When the protagonist discovers the new plans of the “master race” (they want to process Mudokons into tasty food), he decides to escape and save his friends from the danger. In Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee the player is jumping between platforms, sneaking up behind the backs of their opponents and solving various environmental riddles. During the game the protagonist can also give orders to other Mudokons. Since the protagonist has no health bar or energy, a single enemy hit is enough to kill him – in that case Abe respawns at the beginning of the level. The title lacks any interface – all information is presented in the level or on special tutorial screens.

A set of the first two installments in the popular Syberia series — point-and-click adventure games by Benoit Sokal, originally released in 2002 and 2003. The games' console port, created over 10 years after the original release, does not change the gameplay or visuals much, but it introduces gamepad support. In Siberia, you play as a young lawyer named Kate Walker, who was hired by a toymaking company to finalize formalities regarding a takeover of a factory in a small European town. The story begins when the protagonist arrives in the town and learns that the factory's owner, Anna Voralberg, is dead. To complete her task, Walker has to find Voralberg's heir, Hans. During the search, you visit various locations and solve a range of logic puzzles. The sequel continues the story from the first installment — Kate and Hans search for a land of living mammoths.

In the game, we play as a young man who, tormented by visions of a mighty battle, decides to go deep into the mysterious jungle to find answers to his questions. Drawing inspiration from classic platform games, Outland brings its own original solutions. Our hero can transform from light to dark form and vice versa. This ability determines mainly his resistance to attacks and the ability to defeat various opponents.

A logic game by Cipher Prime that combines puzzle solving with audiovisual experiences. The gameplay in Auditorium is divided into 15 acts that consist of over 70 varied levels. In every one of those, our task is to control the stream of sounds in a way that makes it fill the containers placed in the level. This can be achieved by using special icons that change the path and speed of flight of a sound beam as well as its color if set correctly. When it reaches its target in the right shape, we can hear one of the songs composed solely for the purposes of the game. What’s important, the title gives us plenty of freedom, letting us achieve our goal in a number of ways. The production features minimalistic but pleasant graphics and a soundtrack that changes with our progress.
