Pillars of Eternity Video Game Series
Pillars of Eternity is a series of isometric projection RPGs with strong references to such classics of the genre as Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale. The player travels through the author's fantasy world, commanding a team of colorful characters. At the head of the company is the protagonist, whose characteristics can be freely adjusted at the beginning of the game. Rich in descriptions and stories, the carefully created world offers a whole range of dialogue options and opportunities to interact with NPCs. Of course, there are also battles, which are fought in real time (with the option of active pause). As we perform successive tasks, our team grows in strength, learning new skills and acquiring better equipment.
Creating games from the series PoE is handled by Obsidian Entertainment studio (Neverwinter Nights 2, Tyranny), formed in 2003 by veterans from Black Isle Studios (Fallout 2, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale II). First Pillars of Eternity was released in March 2015 on PC, and in August 2017 also on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. The role of publisher was fulfilled by Paradox Interactive. In the console version, called Pillars of Eternity: Complete Edition, included expansions that were released on PC: The White March Part I (August 2015) and The White March Part II (February 2016). The full-fledged Part II, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, was released on PC in May 2018. The console version for PS4, XONE and Nintendo Switch is scheduled for December 2018. This time the role of publisher was fulfilled by Versus Evil. The developers have prepared three add-ons for two: Beast of Winter (July 2018), Seeker, Slayer, Survivor (September 2018) and The Forgotten Sanctum (November 2018).
A distinctive feature of Pillars of Eternity is a huge amount of text: descriptions of the events in which our heroes take part, descriptions of the appearance and behavior of the NPCs we meet, a variety of lines of dialogue to choose from... It is worth noting that the availability of given dialogue issues depends on many factors, including the choices made during the creation of the protagonist's character. The decisions made and issues spoken affect the game world and the attitude of NPCs.
When creating the main character, we choose his gender and race. In addition to humans, elves and dwarves, which are standard for the fantasy genre, we also have, for example, great blue-skinned strongmen, somewhat reminiscent of the Na'vi from the movie Avatar. Each race also has its own subraces, e.g. dwarves are divided into mountain and tundra. We also choose one of many character classes (warrior, barbarian, priest, etc.), which will determine our character's capabilities in battle. Part two expanded on this aspect of the game by adding two classes.
The first installment of Pillars of Eternity begins on the course. The protagonist is a member of a caravan that has to stop in the woods for the night, as the further way is blocked by a fallen tree. The stop is interrupted by a magical storm, which forces the protagonist to hide in ancient ruins. There he witnesses a magical ritual that transforms him into a "seer," that is, a person who can interact with souls. It quickly becomes apparent that the new abilities come at a price - we are in danger of falling into madness. The search for a remedy is helped by the fact that we become the owners of an impressive fortress. At first, it is admittedly in ruins, but over time we can restore it to its former glory and become a real lord.
At the beginning Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire our fortress is destroyed: the colossal statue located in the castle's basement is captured by one of the gods, escapes to the surface and starts wreaking havoc and destruction. As a result of these accidents, we ourselves land in that world, but this is by no means the end of our journey. Divine forces allow us to return to the world of the living, as long as we pledge to pursue the reanimated colossus. The pursuit of the rebellious god leads us to the title archipelago of Dead Fire, where we navigate our own ship. The means of locomotion here replaces the fortress from the first game - the ship can be expanded and upgraded. The game also allows us to take part in sea battles, fought in turn-based form.

RPG
May 8, 2018
A sequel to the successful RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment. The story told in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire follows the threads started in the first installment of the series. Eothas, the god of renewal and light, comes back to life and takes the form of a statue buried under the protagonist’s keep. Although the stronghold gets destroyed, the main hero survives. From now on, he or she has to pursue a new goal, which is to hunt down Eothas as well as find answers to questions that can bring chaos to the world of gods and mortals. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire takes the player to the eponymous Deadfire archipelago in the far east. In this new region you can travel not only on foot, but also by ship. While controlling your party of characters, in the classic isometric view, you get to explore different locations, complete missions of varying importance and fight with opponents met on the way. Note that the world of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire lives a life of its own, and the choices you made in the first game have consequences here too. Some changes and improvements were made to the User Interface and dialogue system as well as the visuals, which now feature dynamic weather.

No place like home, eh? They heard that saying in RPGs. Most of modern role-plays give you some form of roof over your head. The problem starts when these take a toil on gameplay.
