Total War: Warhammer
Strategy
May 24, 2016
Next installment in the epic strategy game series, introduced by Creative Assembly in 2000. After a series of titles set in different historical periods, the developers decided to take players into one of the most famous fantasy universes, created by the Games Workshop company. In the dark universe of Warhammer, different races constantly fight for power and world domination, unaware of the fact that the real threat comes from a mighty force from the north. The game lets become the leader of one of several races, including humans, orcs, goblins, dwarves, vampires, and others. Disregarding the fantasy elements, the gameplay does not differ significantly from the previous games in the series, with epic real-time battles lying at its core. Between the battles the gameplay switches to a turn-based mode, where on a world map you develop your country, its economy, and establish diplomatic relations with other nations.

Total War: Warhammer II
Strategy
September 28, 2017
Another installment in a popular series of strategy games created by Creative Assembly. Unlike the first part of the subseries, which was set in the Old World, this time the players travel to the west, where they wage a war across four continents: Ulthuan, Naggaroth, Southern Realms, and Lustria. Four races take part in the conflict, i.e. the High Elves, the Dark Elves, the Lizardmen, and the Skaven. Each of these factions fights for control over the Great Vortex, which they can heal or disperse using various rituals. Once more, gameplay in Total War: Warhammer II is based on two pillars. In a strategy map view you move your armies, manage economy and expand cities (all this in turns), while battles are waged in real time on 3D battlefields. Each race has its unique mechanics, units and heroes. Besides, owners of the first and second game can download a huge map that combines both game worlds. This way you can play a campaign of truly epic scale while controlling any of the factions available in Total War: Warhammer and its sequel.

This title is based on a classic tabletop battle game Mordheim, which, in contrast to most of the games set in this universe, did not feature grand battles but small clashes of individual units. The game is set 500 years before the Warhammer’s main story, in the titular Mordheim City. After being struck by a comet, the city becomes a fighting ground for numerous conflicting factions. As a leader of one of them, you explore vast districts of the metropolis, undertaking various story missions and fighting enemies. Turn-based battles take place on 3D arenas of different shapes and layouts. Interestingly, your soldiers can become crippled, e.g. lose limbs.

Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide
Action
October 23, 2015
Set in the Warhammer universe, a co-op multiplayer game developed by Fatshark, the company known for such games as War of the Roses/Vikings and Escape Dead Island. The action takes place in and around Ubersreik – an almost completely destroyed city overrun by rat-men species called the Skaven. Players assemble a team of four daredevils with the objective of breaching through subsequent districts and taking them back from enemies. Generally, mechanics resemble those in the popular Left 4 Dead series. The action is seen from the first-person perspective. The heroes assume one of five classes, each having a different story and abilities. During combat, the defeated enemies leave their equipment that can be picked up and used in subsequent battles. The game features dark and gloomy colors which create a distinctive atmosphere of terror.

Total War: Warhammer II - Mortal Empires
Strategy
October 26, 2017
A free expansion for the strategy game Total War: Warhammer II. The add-on was developed by the creators of the original, i.e. Creative Assemble. The Mortal Empires DLC is offered exclusively to the owners of the first two games in the series, as it introduces a third game mode, which is a joint campaign. The add-on joins the grand campaigns from both the first Total War: Warhammer and its sequel, but it does not do it by simply combining the two maps – the campaign is set in the Old World with some of the most essential territories added, namely, Ulthuan, Naggaroth, Southlands and Lustria. The area consists of a total of 295 settlements controlled by 117 playable and non-playable factions. It is also worth noting that Total War: Warhammer II - Mortal Empires does not bring any important changes to gameplay mechanics. Gameplay still consists of two phases – in the first one you manage your nation on a strategic world map, but whenever there is a clash between two armies you get to take part in a huge battle of thousands of units fought in real time. Nevertheless, the expansion includes all the innovations and improvements brought forth by Total War: Warhammer II. Besides, every other DLC and “free-LC” is also available in the Mortal Empires mode, thus further expanding the joint campaign map.
