Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground is a turn-based strategy using the license of the miniature wargame Warhammer Age of Sigmar, which in 2015 replaced the cult Warhammer Fantasy Battle. The game is the work of the Gasket Games studio, and it was published by Focus Home Interactive.
Plot
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground takes us to the title Storm Ground - a dark land that is an arena for the forces of life, death and chaos. During the game we take control over one of the factions fighting for influence in this land and we fight bloody battles, striving for total domination over our enemies.
Mechanics
Before starting the game in Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground we have to choose which side of the conflict we will stand on. We can stand at the head of the Stormcast Eternals, immortal warriors created by Sigmar himself to fight against the hordes flooding the lands of mortals, lead the forces of death called Nighthaunt, whose ranks are filled with predatory ghosts, phantoms and wraiths, and fight for victory as bloodthirsty monsters - Maggotkin. Then there's nothing left to do but to decide which hero we will play (this is important because the hero will be our basic and strongest unit on the battlefield) and start the actual gameplay.
The core of the game are turn-based battles on arenas covered by a grid of hexes. The key to success is developing effective tactics based on the strengths and weaknesses of your chosen faction. The Stormcast Eternals' strengths lie in their heavy weaponry and powerful units (led by dragon riders), while the Nighthaunt shower their opponents with a multitude of soldiers, and the Maggotkin pollute the battlefields and weaken their enemies.
Although initially we have a limited number of units at our disposal, as we progress and with successive victories we gain cards that allow us to put new, increasingly powerful subordinates into battle. In addition, expanding our deck, we gain new armour and weapons for our soldiers, as well as various upgrades and skills. In addition, the game allows us to customize the appearance of units by colouring their equipment.
Game modes
In Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground, there is a non-linear story campaign waiting to be tested, in which we lead our chosen faction through the enemy stronghold. What challenges we have to face and what opponents we have to deal with is determined by the path we choose. Apart from that, multiplayer mode based on PvP rules was prepared for the game.
Technical aspects
Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground uses the Unreal Engine 4 technology. The graphic design of this games presents a high level of quality, especially models of units full of small details.
