Total War: Warhammer II is a great game for both novices and experts alike. The fantasy races provide a great diversity of units and exciting animations to keep battles lively, and the extensive tutorials and streamlined UI of this installment make it less confusing and faster to play. Multiple ways to win campaigns, cooperative and competitive multiplayer, and a big arsenal of separate quest battles all add tons of replay value as well.
The main pros of the game
- Rich and Unique Factions: Players appreciate the variety of factions, each with unique playstyles and mechanics, enhancing replayability and strategy.
- Detailed Lore and World: The game is praised for its intricate lore and the immersive world of Warhammer, which adds depth to the gameplay experience.
- Visually Stunning Campaign Map: The campaign map is often described as beautiful, contributing to the overall enjoyment of exploration and conquest.
- Engaging Gameplay Mechanics: Many players find the mix of RTS and 4X elements to be enjoyable, especially the tactical battles and skirmishes.
- Mod Support: The availability of mods allows players to customize their experience, which can enhance gameplay and fix issues.
The main cons of the game
- Steep Learning Curve: New players often struggle with the complexity of the game, finding the tutorials inadequate for understanding mechanics.
- Balance Issues: There are complaints about the overpowered nature of enemy lords and the imbalance in army compositions, which can lead to frustrating experiences during battles.
- Technical Issues: Some users report performance problems, such as long loading times and bugs, particularly with auto-battle mechanics.
- Lack of Naval Combat: The absence of naval battles is noted as a significant drawback, especially for players who enjoyed that aspect in previous titles.
- Dependence on DLC: Many players feel that the base game lacks content and that enjoying the full experience requires purchasing multiple DLCs.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Improved Diplomacy: Users express a desire for a more nuanced and functional diplomacy system, as current mechanics can feel random and unbalanced.
- Naval Combat: The absence of naval battles is a common complaint, with players wanting more variety in combat scenarios.
- Better AI and Game Balance: Suggestions for improved AI behavior and game balance are frequent, particularly regarding the power dynamics between factions and the effectiveness of army compositions.
- More Diverse Battle Maps: Players desire a greater variety of battle maps, as the current selection is perceived as repetitive despite the large campaign map.
- Better Resource Management: There are calls for more meaningful resource management systems, as many feel that the current mechanics do not add enough strategic depth.
Summary
- Overall, while Total War: WARHAMMER II has garnered praise for its depth, variety, and engaging gameplay, it also faces criticism for its complexity, balance issues, and technical problems.

Total War: Warhammer II Description
Total War: Warhammer II is a fantasy strategy game designed for PC. This is also a sequel to Total War: Warhammer released in 2016. Both games were created by Creative Assembly.
Plot
Like the title suggests, players get to visit the popular fantasy universe of Warhammer once more. This game, however, is not set in the Old World, where we got to in the previous part. Instead, we travel toward the west, where we wage a war across four continents: Ulthuan, Naggaroth, Southern Realms, and Lustria.
The grand campaign lets you play through the conflict as a leader of one of four races, which include the High Elves, the Dark Elves, the Lizardmen, and the Skaven. Those four factions fight for control over the Great Vortex, which has been there over Ulthuan, the elves’ homeland, for thousands of years.
Mechanics
Total War: Warhammer II for PC was built on the foundations of the entire Total War series. Hence, we get a strategy game with two-phased gameplay. In the strategic map view you perform actions in turns, leading the entire faction, moving your armies, managing ecomony, expanding cities and developing technologies. On the other hand, battles are waged in real time. In those, you take command over thousands of units and have to lead them to victory by wisely using formations, character abilities and varying landscapes.
The game also offers many innovations. The most significant are four new factions, each with its own mechanics, units and heroes. Moreover, the grand campaign is structured differently, putting participants up against one another in a fight over control of the Great Vortex. By performing various rituals, individual races try to heal or disperse the Vortex, which shifts the focus of gameplay more toward pursuing specific objectives and thwarting enemy’s plans.
Technical aspects
Total War: Warhammer II is built on a modernized version of the Warscape engine, which was used before in the prevous installment.
An interesting feature of the game is the correlation between two parts of the subseries. Owners of Total War: Warhammer and its sequel can download a huge map, which consists of the terrains found in both titles, and can thus play a truly epic-scale campaign, commanding any of the factions available in either game.
