Deluxe Ski Jump 4
Sports
December 31, 2011
The fourth installment in a series of ski jumping simulators that gained approval around the world thanks to combining simplicity with loads of pure gameplay. The game was created by a Finnish programmer Jussi Koskela and expands the concepts of the previous iterations, introducing several significant novelties at the same time. Deluxe Ski Jump 4 offers a wide set of game modes - single competitions and entire seasons, apart from the multiplayer rivalry. Participating in a session involves the necessity to go through qualifications. Many factors influence one's performance here, including the wind (its force and direction change) and dynamic weather conditions (rain, snow, fog). Both the in-game physics and character animations were substantially improved, apart from the game's visuals. DSJ 4 can be played from several different camera angles and a large emphasis was placed on recreating the infrastructures for jumps and adding cheering fans. Additionally, the player can take part in competitions at different times of day, also with the use of artificial lighting.

Ski Jumping 2012
Sports
December 2, 2011
A mobile ski jumping simulator with a number of managerial features. The game, developed by Vivid Games, allows us to create a custom player from scratch and lead him through the world of ski jumping. Our duties include buying equipment and planning a workout schedule, as well as taking part in further competitions, systematically increasing our statistics. The jumping itself is quite complicated – the player has to focus on each section (inrun, take-off, flight, and landing), as the judges grade the style of the jump following these guidelines. The jumps are also affected by wind and dynamic weather conditions. Unfortunately, the game lacks the official license of ski jumping events, which leaves us with placeholder names of all participants. We are left with appealing visuals and intuitive controls employing the touch controls or built-in gyroscope.
