Ski Jumping Pro VR

Ski Jumping Pro VR is a sports game dedicated to ski jumping. The title is a new installment of Ski Jumping Pro, which debuted on iOS mobile devices in 2013, but this time we are dealing with a game using the benefits of VR technology. Two-time Olympic gold medalist and world champion Andreas Wellinger was involved in the work on the game. Yippee! Entertainment is responsible for its development and the publisher is Kalypso Media.

Mechanics

In Ski Jumping Pro VR we observe the action from first-person perspective. The gameplay comes down to executing the best jumps possible, so we get a good score and beat our rivals. The production uses VR goggles, motion controllers and body position tracking function - we have to balance properly during the flight, as well as efficiently and safely land (you can play both standing and sitting).

The title offers a dozen or so different jumping hills, modeled after real locations. The individual hills differ in their atmosphere and offer different views. The creators have also included several dozen different events and tournaments, thanks to which the fun does not get dull.

We can also customize the appearance of the characters by means of several dozen cosmetic items - helmets, overalls, gloves, skis or shoes, unlocked as the game progresses. Gradually we also improve the skills of our jumper.

Game modes

Ski Jumping Pro VR can be only played solo. The title enables us to perform single jumps in different locations, but we will also find an extensive career mode.

Technical aspects

Ski Jumping Pro VR features nice three-dimensional visuals, especially for a VR game. The graphics are quite realistic, although the exaggerated lighting effects are a bit too striking. Nevertheless, combined with high level of immersion provided by virtual reality, the overall impression is positive.

PC version of the game supports HTC Vive goggles. The PlayStation 4 version requires PlayStation VR.
