Infinite Air with Mark McMorris is a sports snowboarding simulation game developed in cooperation with Mark McMorris, a Canadian multiple medalist and world champion of this discipline. The title was released for PC, XONE and PS4 and was created by HB Studios, a Canadian developer that is known for The Golf Club any many other well-received although quite niche sports productions.

Mechanics

As far as general gameplay premise are concerned, Infinite Air with Mark McMorris is similar to the aforementioned The Golf Club, putting emphasis especially on incredible realism, open world, considerable freedom of play, and social features. In the game, we are taken to a vast procedurally generated environment that spans over 100 square miles and can travel to any place with a helicopter. Then, all we have left to do is to dive into a snow adventure. Whether we want to explore or ride down slopes or master snowboarding stunts is only up to us. What’s important, we do everything under the supervision of famous professionals such as McMorris himself and other snowboarding stars like Craig McMorris, Silje Norendal, Torstein Horgmo, Danny Davis, or Ulrik Badertscher.

The game is characterized by impressive realism—the developers of Infinite Air quite clearly head the opposite direction than purely arcade titles in the likes of the SSX series. For the purposes of the game, an incredibly realistic analog control system was created. It tries to recreate actual movement of a snowboarder and the physical forces affecting him. The production is designed in a way that is fun to both true lovers of the white madness and absolute amateurs.

Game modes

Infinite Air with Mark McMorris for PC, XONE and PS4 can be played solo but, similarly to The Golf Club, is most fun in multiplayer. While playing, we can challenge our friends to duels and compete with them in actually existing snowboarding competitions such as Slopestyle, Half Pipe, or Big Air. Thanks to the built-in editor, we can also create our own snowboarding parks and share them with the player community.

Technical aspects

Infinite Air with Mark McMorris is characterized by high-quality graphics that realistically recreates both terrain appearance and the snowboarding experiences. However, it must be stressed (and is especially important for PC players) that a game pad is required to play it. An advanced editor is an integral part of HB Studios’ production. Thanks to it, we can quickly create customized snowboarding parks and equip them with a myriad of hills, cliffs, handrails, ramps and countless other attractions.
