A sandbox extreme winter sports simulation game by Ubisoft, set in faithfully recreated regions of the Alps and Alaska, divided into several open-world sectors. There you can go skiing or snowboarding, or even take to the skies with a paraglider or a wingsuit. The gameplay is purely arcade-like, so you need to both ride fast and execute spectacular tricks.
Steep is an extreme winter sports simulation game, released for PC, PS4 and etc. and other devices. It is set in an opn world and focuses strongly on the social aspect. The game was developed by Ubisoft Annecy.
Mechanics
The game's setting features large parts of the Alps and Alaska, divided into several big sectors. There you can go skiing or snowboarding, or even take to the skies with a paraglider or a wingsuit.
During the gameplay, you can meet other players and take part in their custom-created challenges (e.g. time trials or stunts). An important part of Steep is the rivalry between players, featuring online rankings, and participating in the challenges scattered all over the game's world. You can also ingore the missions and other players and simply enjoy the wintery landscapes.
There are unique challenges for each of the four available disciplines, such as a ski slalom in the forest or a wingsuit flight as close to a mountain's slope as possible. The players can also form teams and have fun together, even when they all choose a different sport (it allows for performing spectacular team stunts), while the exploration lovers can search for many hidden locations.
Steep for PC encourages immortalising your achievements, both through beating the challenges, which in turn encourage other players to try matching or beating us, and by taking photos or recording replays, which can be easily shared on social networks. The game even features a movie editor with quite a lot of options.
