Xeodrifter

A typical example of a metroidvania game. It was developed by an independent American studio Renegate Kid. The player assumes the role of a lone astronaut who is tasked with exploring the surface of four dangerous planets. Although the player can visit each planet from the beginning of the game (by using a spaceship), it is quickly revealed that, in order to reach hardly accessible places, they must first obtain various upgrades.

During the game, we assume the role of Aggelos – the hero traveling through the fantastic world of Lumen and fighting invaders from another dimension. Thanks to the pixel-art visuals and a catchy, chiptune soundtrack, the game strongly resembles 16-bit classics.
Cave Story+

Refreshed version of the heat adopted metroidvanii from 2004. In addition to the new graphics and soundtrack, the title boasts three different levels of difficulty. However, the gameplay has remained unchanged, so the fun is still about exploring vast levels, jumping on platforms and fighting with smaller and larger supporters of the crazy Doctor.

Edge of Space

A platform science fiction sandbox game developed by indie studio HandyMan. In terms of gameplay mechanics the title resembles Terraria. Players, as the crew members of the ArkCo spaceship, wake up from cryogenic sleep only to discover that their vessel arrived to a dark corner of space that bears an uncanny resemblance to the Bermuda Triangle back on Earth. The game is set in an open, randomly generated world, and the players’ main goal is survival.
Strider

A metroidvania game from Capcom's popular series. The game, developed by Double Helix Games, is set in a grim future where Earth is ruled by a cruel dictator – Grandmaster Meio. As Hiryu, a young warrior who achieved "Super A" rank as the youngest member of the titular organization, we must put an end to Meio's rule and kill him. Even though Strider is implemented in fully 3D visuals we observe the game from a side-view perspective.
Axiom Verge

An indie game by an experienced developer, who has worked on such productions as End of Nations, Tiger Woods, and NFL Street. In Axiom Verge you play as a man called Trace, who dies and is reborn in a fantasy world, where futuristic and archaic technologies blend. Trace quickly asserts that the new environment and the beings inhabiting it are trying to kill him. The protagonist explores locations filled with traps and enemies as he runs, jumps, and shoots with a gun.

The concept of the game assumes the creative use of a system of craftsmanship, in order to create new objects, weapons and technologies.
