Lotus III is the last game in a series of extremely popular car races, which celebrated its greatest triumphs in the early nineties, among Amga computer users. PC owners only had one conversion and that was The Ultimate Challenge. For understandable reasons, the version for plaques did not have a number in the name.

The player can drive three Lotus cars: Esprit S4, Elan SE and M200. They all have similar performance, everyone behaves the same on the road, so the choice is rather cosmetic. During the game, the vehicle we see from behind, just like in two great hits with slot machines: Position and Out Run fields. In addition to us, 19 opponents take part in the competition, but they are not a big challenge - you can only collide and lose a few seconds. There are two race modes: time trial and cup system. In the first of them, the route is divided into several sections. In order to win it is enough to drive each of them in a specific time. The second mode is to fight for the best possible place. The results from the individual routes accumulate, so you can see who presented the highest level after the competition. An additional difficulty in the down system is the need to refuel the vehicle. This can be done in a temporary pit-stop, which is always located at the beginning of each new section of the route. Thanks to the latter option, Multiplayer duels take on a special character, because the program also provides for such a possibility. Two people can fight against each other at the same time, the screen is then divided in half. In general, the winner is the one who is more clever in dealing with refuelling.

Lotus: The Ultimate Challenge ruled in almost every computer lab, mainly due to the ability to play two people at once. It has to be admitted that such fights were very exciting and certainly many older players recall them with excitement. The program also offered the possibility of designing routes based on several guidelines, e.g. the number of bends, obstacles on the road, etc., which further increased its value.
