Lost Eidolons is a complex RPG with extensive turn-based strategy elements. The game was developed by the independent studio Ocean Drive and is its debut project.
Lost Eidolons takes us on a journey to a fantasy world. The continent of Artemesia, which was once divided between sovereign kingdoms, now belongs to a feudal empire ruled by the aging Emperor Ludivictus. One day, a mercenary (or mercenary woman) from the village of Lonetta named Eden falls victim to an aristocratic conspiracy and is disgraced. Having no other choice, he must join the rebels, whose aim is to overthrow the tyrant conqueror and restore the old order in all of Artemesia.
Unlike many other games of this type, the story told in Lost Eidolons has a predetermined course. Therefore, the game does not include moral choices.
Game in Lost Eidolons starts with creating a character. The game lets us decide about the gender and appearance of the hero, as well as choose his profession. Then there's nothing left for us but to start the actual gameplay. It is based on two main foundations.
The first pillar are turn-based battles, which we observe from a top-down view. Victory can be achieved not only by sending well-developed soldiers into battle, but also by placing them in such a way that they can use the advantage guaranteed by the terrain (for example, units fighting at a distance should be placed on hills). As we progress, we unlock new troops and equipment for them. In addition, over time we develop our character and get better equipment for him.
The second pillar of the game are visits to the camp, where we control the hero directly, watching the action from behind his back (TPP). Here we deal with the recruitment and training of soldiers representing various specialties (from warriors, through archers, to mages), establishing relationships with new characters and nurturing friendships with those already known, as well as forming alliances and other activities related to the conduct of politics in the broadest sense. The camp is also a place where we accept various tasks pushing forward the plot and side missions.
Lost Eidolons graphics presents a high quality and was kept in a rather gloomy style. Gameplay is accompanied by soundtrack, which was composed by Clark Aboud - artist whose portfolio includes music for Slay the Spire.

Twinfinite: 4 / 5 by Jake Su
Take away all of that, and herein lies a more than competent turn-based tactical RPG that weaves a grand tale full of drama, stakes, and plenty of bloodshed. Lost Eidolons’ combat system is familiar yet different, offering strategic flexibility with the use of terrain and elements, and giving players the tools to succeed or fail on their own merits. Add to that the depth of its character development and worldbuilding, and it is likely anyone looking to invest considerable time into the game will enjoy themselves immensely. To say Lost Eidolons is an indie title with AAA aspirations is not a knock against it, but a true reflection of its quality and the potential it has if its edges were more refined.
Hey Poor Player: 4 / 5 by Josh Speer
Lost Eidolons is a truly impressive tactical RPG. It has solid and easy-to-grasp mechanics and manages to differentiate itself thanks to the weapon swapping and realistic visual style. While there’s still some room for improvement and some minor issues that require fixing, I can wholeheartedly recommend this to any fans of the genre. Here’s hoping this talented new team has many more exciting adventures to share in the future.
