LEGO Bricktales Description
LEGO Bricktales is an adventure and puzzle game based on LEGO. It was developed by ClockStone studio, known from Bridge Constructor series, and published by Thunderful Publishing.
Plot
The main character of LEGO Bricktales is the grandson of a famous inventor. The protagonist wants to help his grandfather restore the former glory of the amusement park he ran, because otherwise this once great place will be closed forever. In order to do so, our protagonist has to charge his alien technology-based robot, which draws energy from the happiness crystals. In order to collect as many of them as possible, the hero goes on a journey around the world and makes the inhabitants of different parts of the globe happy, helping them to solve their problems.
Game mechanics
In LEGO Bricktales we observe the action from an isometric view. After creating the character there's nothing left to do but to set off on the journey, which leads us through various locations - from the tropical jungle, sandy desert and Caribbean islands, through a bustling metropolis and a medieval castle. Each time, we meet numerous characters who are struggling with various problems. In order to help them and make them happy we have to solve puzzles.
The puzzles involve building various structures out of LEGO. We are talking about both relatively simple objects, such as a sturdy bridge or an impressive throne for the ruler, and more complex mechanisms, such as a crane or a working helicopter. A certain difficulty is the fact that we are given a limited number of bricks and our projects follow the laws of physics. Fortunately, we can repeat the process until the end, so the solutions can be found by trial and error.
As we progress, we unlock new skills, useful during our next escapades. Between expeditions we go to the amusement park, which serves as a hub, where we build more attractions over time. In addition, the game world hides collector's items which are used to unlock cosmetic add-ons for our character and new colors of blocks. We can also play in sandbox mode, which allows us to improve already finished constructions using a wide range of elements.
Technical aspects
LEGO Bricktales features high quality graphics. Particularly noteworthy are the various, detailed locations, which are presented in the form of eye-pleasing dioramas. Of course, all elements of the game world are made of the LEGO bricks.
