LEGO Builder's Journey Description
LEGO Builder's Journey is a debut puzzle game by Light Brick Studio, set in a world made up of popular Danish bricks. The game was originally released only on iOS, but later also received a PC version.
Plot
In the game, we play as a nameless hero setting off on a journey with his parent. During the journey he learns creativity and how to build various structures. After some time as a result of unfortunate coincidence hero is separated from his parent. Our task is to reunite the family. The story does not contain dialogues and is presented in a minimalistic way, mainly by means of character animation.
Mechanics
Builder's Journey is a puzzle game with an isometric view, during which we have to overcome obstacles by appropriately placing blocks. Our hero cannot be controlled directly. He also has no legs, limiting our possibilities of movement. But he can jump between special yellow blocks. When we put a yellow block in front of the protagonist, he will automatically jump on it. Our task is to build paths, stairs and bridges to lead him to his destination. Levels in the game are divided into three types. We can be tasked with leading the hero from point A to point B, constructing a specific building or solving a puzzle.
After some time we get a skateboard, which allows us to ride on smooth paths. Levels with the skateboard are based on placing roads and ramps, thanks to which our hero can travel further. During the game we don't encounter any enemies. However, we have to avoid obstacles such as swamps and machinery.
Game modes
LEGO Builder's Journey contains a single player campaign consisting of over 30 levels. These stages are not particularly long, so the game can be completed in less than an hour.
Technical aspects
The audiovisual setting of the game is very impressive. The world is entirely depicted using blocks. The blocks have their own physics and tilt when we move them. Animations of characters, also made of blocks, are smooth and expressive. The game is accompanied by calm, melancholic music.
