Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins is a puzzle game from the cult Frogger series, which began in the 1980s. It was developed by Konami, the company responsible for the brand.
Plot
In Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins, the title character - a frog named Frogger - decides to explore some forgotten ruins where, as rumor has it, an ancient frog tribe has hidden countless treasures. Frogger's desire to solve the mystery of the disappearing frogs is an additional motivation to undertake this difficult mission. As a veteran adventurer, Frogger senses that the two cases may be connected...
Game mechanics
In Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins, we observe the action in an isometric view. Frogger travels through the ruins with Axol, who has supernatural powers. Throughout more than 100 levels (we visit a jungle, a desert, a royal castle and a sunken rubble), the protagonist has to solve clever puzzles while facing numerous dangers - from enemies to elaborate traps.
The protagonist is not controlled directly; instead, we manipulate the environment by rotating or moving certain objects. In this way, we not only pave the way for Frogger, but also let him deal with his enemies. While you can dispose of regular enemies relatively easily (a snake, for example, can be thrown into an abyss by simply rotating the section of sidewalk it's crawling on), confrontations with bosses can take a long time and require speed and reflexes.
Technical aspects
Graphics in Frogger and the Rumbling Ruins is made in colorful, cartoon style.
