Lair of the Leviathan

Lair of the Leviathan is an RPG that draws heavily from the classics of the genre. This project is the result of a collaboration between independent developers from Nostalgic Realms and Whiskeybarrel Studios.

Gameplay

Team creation

Lair of the Leviathan takes us to a fantasy universe. At the beginning, we compose a team, choosing heroes and heroines from predefined characters or creating individual members ourselves, deciding on their classes, skills, portraits, as well as the appearance of their sprites.

World, exploration, activities

The game provides us with a world divided into locations, between which we move using a map presented from a bird's eye view. Once we reach the destination, we can start exploring the area shown in the isometric view. Apart from settlements and wilderness, we can also come across dungeons. We get to know the inhabitants of this world and perform quests for them, as well as encounter opponents.

Turn-based combat

The battles are turn-based and during them the camera changes perspective, showing the battlefield from above, in a side view. The arenas are covered with a grid of hexagonal fields. In order to achieve success we need to skillfully use the abilities of individual characters and properly distribute them on the battlefield.

Character development and the changing world

As we progress, we develop our team, which over time can face increasingly greater challenges. The world around us also slowly changes, giving our characters access to new places, buildings, and NPCs, as well as missions associated with them. We often have to make decisions during quests that affect the course of the story and influence the entire land.
