Hardcore Gamer: 5 / 5 by Matt Whittaker
Rarely does a game deliver everything its players could ever ask for, but Halo: The Master Chief Collection does just that. Everything is here that should be here: the campaigns, the multiplayer engines, the maps and the visuals.
GameTrailers: 9.3 / 10 by Ben Moore
Yet it's hard to get hung up on slight missteps when The Master Chief Collection is already so generous. It's a grand celebration and a potent reminder why the green Spartan rose to a level of prominence that few can match. Many HD collections or remasters are often pleasant trips down memory lane, but this feels like more than that. It's a gripping reintroduction into all things Halo and something that will likely be enjoyed for years to come.
GamesBeat: 65 / 100 by Brandin Tyrrel
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a fantastic compendium of the high-points in recent shooter history. With four complete multiplayer suites and over 100 maps, it's more than a bargain, it's a steal. The groundwork 343 has laid in this colossal experience, the scope of what it might still be, is truly something to admire. If the driving minds behind the collection can dedicate the kind of care and customer attentiveness that's always been associated with the Halo brand, and pull off the original vision, Halo: The Master Chief Collection multiplayer will easily be deserving of high praise equal to its campaign.
The main pros of the game
- Rich Content: The collection includes six iconic Halo games (Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, and Halo 4), providing extensive gameplay and nostalgia for fans.
- Enhanced Graphics and Features: Many users appreciate the remastered graphics, the ability to switch between original and enhanced visuals, and features like cross-play and customizable gameplay options.
- Strong Multiplayer Experience: The multiplayer modes are praised for their variety and nostalgic value, with many players enjoying custom game modes and community-created content.
- Nostalgia and Value: Players find great value in the collection, often highlighting the low price for the amount of content offered compared to modern games.
The main cons of the game
- Technical Issues: Users report ongoing bugs, connection problems, and matchmaking issues, particularly in co-op and multiplayer modes. Some players have faced crashes and login problems.
- Inconsistent Quality: There are complaints about the graphical fidelity and gameplay mechanics differing significantly between the various titles in the collection, leading to a lack of cohesion.
- Limited Cross-Play Features: Some players are disappointed that only two of the six campaigns support cross-play, limiting cooperative play options.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Original Menus and Content: Many players miss the original menus, loading screens, and credit sequences that contributed to the game's atmosphere and tone.
- More Comprehensive Cross-Play: Users express a desire for all campaigns to support cross-play, allowing friends on different platforms to experience the full story together.
- Enhanced Customization Options: Some players feel that while there are new customization options, many are poorly designed and do not fit the original aesthetic of the games, although there is an option to disable these.
Summary
- Overall, while "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" is celebrated for its nostalgic value and extensive content, it is also critiqued for technical issues and inconsistencies across the games.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection Description
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of FPS games from the Halo series, developed by studio 343Industries, who are responsible for the brand. The set debuted in 2014 on the Xbox One console, and it consisted of the following items: Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2 (also in Anniversary version), Halo 3 and Halo 4; over time it was enriched with Halo 3: ODST. Almost five years later, the package also appeared on personal computers, and developers added Halo: Reach to the package; owners of the Xbox One version were then given the multiplayer content of the latter, while its feature campaign and the Firefight cooperative module were made available to them as a paid DLC.
Plot
The games included in the Halo: The Master Chief Collection compilation take place in the distant future. The main character of the series is the Master Chief - an elite earthly soldier equipped with a powerful armour, which is helped by Artificial Intelligence called Cortana. The first three editions of the cycle (as well as Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach, in which we can trace the fate of other characters) tell the story of war waged by people and a federation of foreign races, known as the Covenant. Halo 4 begins a completely new trilogy in which the hero has to face his own destiny and the ancient race of precursors, which is a threat to the whole universe.
Mechanics
In the games forming the Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the action was shown from the first person perspective (FPP). The pillar of each of them is a mission-divided fictional campaign, in which we carry out the tasks set before us and eliminate hostilities of opponents, making use of an extensive, futuristic arsenal. The fun is diversified by the possibility of using a wide range of combat vehicles, headed by the cult Warthog.
Game modes
In addition to a fictional campaign that can be completed on its own or in cooperation mode, each of the games that create the following Halo: The Master Chief Collection has a rivalry-based multiplayer mode that includes all arenas that have ever appeared in a given production. In the case of Halo 2 players can choose whether they prefer to have fun on all the original, slightly refreshed maps or on selected but thoroughly modified arenas.
Technical aspects
All productions from the Halo: The Master Chief Collection compilation work in sixty frames per second. The Halo 2 stands out from the crowd, which has undergone a grim refreshment of graphics; just like in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, players can switch between the original and upgraded version of the luminaire at any time.
It is worth noting that on personal computers, individual elements of the set were made available gradually, starting from Halo Reach, which is the prequel to the next installments of the cycle.
