Rock, Paper, Shotgun: by John Walker
It'll make another billion dollars, and they're already making the next one that will be exactly the same, and the incredible potential will yet again consume its own fetid tail. The circlejerk of life.
Game Rant: 3 / 5 by Anthony Taormina
So, while the game looks the best Call of Duty ever has, it also carries too many flaws to make it a must-have title for next-gen console owners, or casual Call of Duty fans for that matter. Die-hards will still log countless hours, but long-time detractors will finally have new ground from which to criticize the franchise.
TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10 by Stefan L
Call of Duty: Ghosts does a good job on all accounts. The single player eventually goes in a direction which I liked and enjoyed, while the multiplayer holds onto what it does best, with a few tweaks to the formula. It even manages to straddle the generational divide quite well, even though the current machines suffer badly in comparison. However, it is generally more of the same, and really doesn't push itself hard enough to overhaul and redefine what Call of Duty can be.
The main pros of the game
- Engaging Storyline: Many players praised the campaign for its engaging narrative and character dynamics, with some highlighting the potential for a sequel.
- Unique Modes: The introduction of new gameplay modes such as "Squad" and "Extinction" was well-received, offering fresh experiences compared to traditional multiplayer.
- Graphics: Despite its age, the game was noted for its impressive graphics at the time of release, with some users reporting better performance on Linux than Windows.
- Gameplay Mechanics: The campaign includes a variety of mission types and the ability to control a dog character named Riley, which added a unique element to gameplay.
- Depth in Squads Mode: Players appreciated the depth and variety in the "Squads" mode, which allows for XP gain through playing against AI or friends.
The main cons of the game
- Multiplayer Issues: Many users reported a lack of players in the multiplayer mode, leading to empty lobbies and poor matchmaking experiences. Additionally, issues with balance and hackers were mentioned.
- Short Campaign: The campaign's length (approximately 5-7 hours) disappointed some players who felt it was too short for the price.
- Technical Problems: Users experienced various technical issues, including lag, FPS drops, and bugs, particularly on PC. Some also noted that the game did not support gamepads properly.
- Quick Time Events (QTEs): Some players found the inclusion of QTEs to be frustrating and poorly designed, especially on higher difficulty levels.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Content and Variety: Some players felt that the game lacked sufficient content and variety in multiplayer maps and modes, leading to a repetitive experience over time.
- Improved AI: Several reviews criticized the enemy AI for being predictable and lacking challenge, which detracted from the overall experience.
- Better Gamepad Support: Users expressed disappointment over the lack of support for modern gamepads, particularly the PS4 controller.
- More Depth in Extinction Mode: While the "Extinction" mode was appreciated, some players felt it could benefit from more depth and additional maps, which would require purchasing DLC.
- Balance Improvements: Feedback suggested that certain weapons and abilities were unbalanced, which affected gameplay experience.
Summary
- Overall, while Call of Duty®: Ghosts features a compelling campaign and innovative modes, it suffers from technical issues, multiplayer shortcomings, and a lack of depth in certain areas, leading to mixed reviews from players.

Call of Duty: Ghosts Description
“Call of Duty: Ghosts” is the tenth installment of the best-selling FPS series created in 2003 by Activision. The game was developed by the series’ authors, i.e. Infinity Ward and according to their plans, it is the beginning of a new chapter.
Stephen Gaghan, screenwriter behind such movies as “Traffic”, “Syriana” and “Rules of Engagement” is accountable for the plot. The action takes place in the nearest future. Due to war with the Federation of South American Countries, the United States lost their dominant position. The campaign offers the role of a member of an elite military unit called Ghosts. “Ghosts” carry out the most dangerous missions, often in enemy territory.
“Call of Duty: Ghosts” is an attempt to connect gameplay elements familiar to fans of the series familiar with completely new features. Developers kept main thread packed with spectacular action scenes. One of the most interesting innovations is the presence of a trained dog – it is a great weapon, but it also distracts enemies, causes panic or acts as a scout (due to carried camera).
A multiplayer mode was offered a lot of attention during the development process. It enables players to customize the look of their characters by choosing not only the armament, but also military apparel (gloves, belts, vests, etc.). It is worth mentioning completely new types of maps of the environment that can be destroyed and dynamic events triggered by the players and locations that change.
The game offers new types of multiplayer modes (Cranked, Search & Rescue, Squad and Extinction), modified system of perks concerning the achievements on the battlefield or packages that first appeared in “Modern Warfare 3”.
