Developed by Sunsoft and published by SNK, the game is a port of a 1995 hit from arcade machines. The title is a 2D brawler where the players can choose from eight characters representing different fighting styles and take part in an intergalactic tournament.
Story
Once in a thousand years, a powerful being, Felden, appears in the universe and tries to control and rule over all planets. Only a daredevil from one of the planets of the solar system can stop him. A group of the greatest heroes takes up the challenge. However, in order to gain a chance to fight the powerful being, they first have to deal with all the competitors.
Mechanics
Galaxy Fight enables us to control one of the eight warriors wielding different fighting styles and weapons. The roster includes Kazuma, who fights with the sword, Juri, who wants to become the most beautiful and strongest in the galaxy, or Gunter, a monster representing a marine race.
Each of the available heroes has a number of common attacks assigned to the three action buttons, as well as a number of super abilities that are activated when the right combination of attacks is executed. The fourth action button is only used to provoke opponents with offensive gestures and words. What distinguishes Galaxy Fight from similar fighting games is the lack of walls to which the hero or his opponent can be pushed, as well as the absence of special super attack bar limiting the number of super attacks.
Technical aspects
At release, Galaxy Fight stood out from other representatives of the genre with impressive visuals, including animated backgrounds, consisting of several levels of depth. The game enables two players to play together or against each other in 1-on-1 duels.
