Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors Description
Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors (in Japan known as Vampire: The Night Warriors) is the first installment of a series of two-dimensional fighting games, developed by Capcom. The game was originally released in 1994 on arcade machines, and two years later, thanks to Psygnosis, a PS1 port was released.
Story
Action of Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors takes place on Earth, which is in the process of merging with a dimension called Makai. From here, the title Darkstalkers, creatures known from legends and myths, including vampires, succubi, spirits and mummies, enters the human world. The most powerful of them become the last line of defense of humanity against a dangerous demon trying to conquer the world.
Mechanics
The production was created using the game engine from another classic fighting game by Capcom, Street Fighter II. However, the creators decided on a number of changes in combat mechanics, which were later used in subsequent games of the Japanese developer. And so, the characters in the first installment of Darkstalkers can block enemy attacks while in the air, move around while cruching and perform combos.
In addition, there is a special bar in the game, which, when charged, enables us to perform much stronger attacks. Ten playable characters from a pool of twelve warriors are at the player's disposal. The other two play the role of final opponents, and can only be controlled by artificial intelligence.
Other
Originally Darkstalkers: The Night Warrior was supposed to use the Universal horror film license to enable us control monsters from such movies as Frankenstein, Count Dracula, and Mummy. Eventually, however, the cooperation between Capcom and the film studio did not come to fruition, which resulted in the game's own character designs.
