Fear Effect Sedna

Fear Effect Sedna for PC, PS4 and etc. prolongs a series of action games developed by Kronos Digital Entertainment for PlayStation and released in the early 2000s. Contrary to its predecessors, Fear Effect Sedna was created by Sushee (under the Square Enix's Collective program) - a small, independent French studio popular for a dark adventure game Goetia. Fear Effect Sedna is a tactical action game played from an isometric point of view. The creators admit that they were inspired by a similar game - Shadowrun Returns developed by Harebrained Schemes.

Plot

Fear Effect Sedna for PC, PS4 and etc. takes the player to the world the fans of the series are familiar with. The in-game reality combines cyberpunk stylistics with mythological elements. The story is set four years after the events from the cancelled third installment. Hana - a character that appeared in the previous installments breaks loose and starts a carrier of a mercenary independent from the Triad. Apart from her, the game features other characters from the previous installments, including Rain Qin, Royce Glas and Jacob "Deke" DeCourt. John Zuur Platten - the director of the original game, took part in production of the scenario for Fear Effect Sedna. The characters visit both France and the frosty Greendland, exploring deep caves, abandoned research facilities, underwater stations and amazing locations inspired by the Inuit mythology.

Mechanics

Fear Effect Sedna for PC, PS4 and etc. is a tactical action game played from an isometric view, offering a real-time combat system which allows for active pausing. The player takes control over a team comprising five mercenaries at maximum - each of them has different skills and weapons, thus they complement each other well. The characters participate in a series of story-based missions - each offers a different set of playable characters. Apart from fighting enemies frequently, the player occassionally solves puzzles related to lockpicking or disarming traps for instance.

Game modes

Apart from the story campaign, Fear Effect Sedna offers the missions mode. This mode focuses mainly on combat. Winning here rewards the player with unique items and outfits.

Technical aspects

The game offers an old-school graphic style, making a reference to classic, isometric RPGs. On the other hand, both the characters and environments were created in high resolution. Similar to the previous installments, the game offers cel-shaded graphics. As a result, the visuals resemble comic strips.
