Windows Central: 4 / 5 by Michael Hoglund
While the absence of being able to select from a roster of heroes pains me, the across-the-board gains to other gameplay systems, as a result, pay off. Especially after the disaster that was Dynasty Warriors 9, Origins gets Omega Force back to their roots in a way I didn't know I craved. A must-buy for any fan of the series.
GameSpot: 7 / 10 by Richard Wakeling
Dynasty Warriors: Origins evolves the long-running series, meshing its hack-and-slash core with an action-oriented slant that enhances its extravagant 14th-century warfare.
Destructoid: 9.5 / 10 by Steven Mills
For me, this is the best Dynasty Warriors yet, and I’m excited to see what’s next.
The main pros of the game
- Combat Mechanics: The combat system is highly praised for being fluid and engaging, with distinct weapon mechanics that enhance the gameplay experience. The addition of parrying and countering adds depth to the combat.
- Epic Battles: Players appreciate the scale of battles, feeling truly immersed in the chaos of fighting against large armies. The game manages to capture the essence of being a "one-man army."
- Storytelling: The narrative is more immersive and engaging than in previous entries, with a focus on character interactions and development, making the story feel fresh despite its historical context.
- Visuals and Presentation: The graphics and overall presentation have seen significant improvements, with well-designed character models and environments that enhance the gameplay experience.
- Soundtrack: The music is well-received, featuring a mix of new tracks and rearrangements from previous games, adding to the nostalgic experience.
- Strategic Gameplay Elements: The morale system and the ability to command troops add a layer of strategy to battles, making players feel more involved in the outcome.
The main cons of the game
- Limited Character Customization: Players express disappointment over the lack of options to customize their protagonist, with many wishing for a character creation feature.
- Restricted Playable Characters: There are only a handful of playable characters, which feels limiting compared to previous titles where players had access to a larger roster.
- Musou Attacks: The Musou attacks are considered underwhelming and less impactful compared to earlier entries in the series, leading to dissatisfaction among fans.
- Linear Gameplay: Some players feel that the game can become repetitive and linear, with a lack of engaging side content beyond the main missions.
- Technical Issues: A few players have reported issues such as screen tearing and crashes, though these seem to be less common.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Character Customization Options: Many users expressed a strong desire for character creation tools akin to previous entries, which would allow for more personal engagement with the protagonist.
- Co-op Mode: The absence of local or online co-op is noted as a significant omission, especially for fans who enjoyed multiplayer aspects in past games.
- Diverse Weapon Variety: Players miss the extensive variety of weapons and playstyles available in earlier titles, feeling that the limited selection detracts from the overall experience.
- Replayability Features: Users have mentioned a desire for more replayable modes or freeplay options to enhance the longevity of the game.
Summary
- Overall, DYNASTY WARRIORS: ORIGINS is viewed as a significant improvement over its predecessor, with engaging combat and storytelling that reinvigorates the franchise, despite some limitations regarding character customization and replayability.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Description
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a TPP slasher action game with tactical elements. The creators of the previous installments of the series, the Omega Force studio, are responsible for this game.
Plot
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is loosely based on The Tale of the Three Kingdoms, which describes the civil war fought in China at the turn of the second and the third century. The novel focuses on the conspiracies, intrigues, and battles between the powers of Shu Han, Wei, and Wu.
In previous games from the series, dozens of playable characters were made available, some of which were authentic characters associated with the struggle for the unification of China. In this installment, for the first time we embody a nameless hero who does not appear in the history pages. He is trying to find his way in the chaos of war and have a real impact on it, leading a great army.
Gameplay
The essence of the game, as in the previous parts, are great battles involving hundreds of units on both sides of the conflict. On the battlefield, the game turns into a slasher, in which, apart from swinging a melee weapon, we also need to demonstrate tactical skills. It is necessary to issue orders to our own units, as well as to allied forces, in order to gain an advantage over the opponent.
When the army fails, we fight alone against thousands of enemy units. This is a formula characteristic for the Warriors series, which is a hallmark of the brand.
