[2:20] Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties trailer #2

COGconnected: 60 / 100 by Rhett Waselenchuk
I’m utterly torn with Bloody Ties (no pun intended). On the one hand, I genuinely found myself enjoying my departure from Villedor in favor of a brutal, balls-to-the-walls tournament. On the other hand, no game I’ve played in the last decade has been as unstable as Dying Light 2. I’ve been forced to curse the sky and proclaim Techland’s latest DLC nigh-unplayable. When it works, it’s great. But these developers have some serious fixin’ to do.
Attack of the Fanboy: 3.5 / 5 by Diego Perez
Bloody Ties is a safe, short expansion that gives dedicated Dying Light fans some new stuff to mess around with, but there's not much to entice other people to dive back in.
TechRaptor: 7.5 / 10 by Andrew Stretch
While the opening to Bloody Ties stumbles a bit once Aiden reaches the Carnage Hall this DLC does an amazing job not just in the challenges that it pushes upon players, but with the narrative depth surrounding Ciro and his family. Unfortunately key moments are let down by clunky combat.

Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties Description
Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties is the first official story expansion for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, a 2022 survival action game set in a post-apocalyptic open world. It was developed by the Polish company Techland - the studio also responsible for the production and release of the main title. As a not standalone add-on, Bloody Ties requires the main version of the game.
Plot
Who among us would not like to hear hundreds of fans chanting his name? Who would not want to be loved and admired while having unimaginable wealth? After all, who among us would dare to reach for all this, knowing how high a price would come to pay for it...?
The main character, Aiden, however, will not step back from anything. To achieve his goals, he decides to participate in a bloody tournament in which the best of the best fight each other to the death. To achieve the highest possible results and quickly climb to the top, the man must polish his skills and gain valuable allies. In the course of his plan, he quickly realizes that the pursuit of fame is just the beginning. Soon after joining the competition, he becomes embroiled in an intrigue driven by a lust for power and a strong desire for revenge.
Game mechanics
As in the basic version of the game in Bloody Ties, the gameplay is shown from a first-person perspective (FPP). After finishing a few first missions, the add-on takes us to Carnage Hall - a new location, where the strongest warriors face each other in bloody battles designed to ensure their fame and wealth. Thus, the main idea of the gameplay is to creatively eliminate a variety of opponents and achieve the highest ranking.
In addition to the arsenal available in the main game, the DLC offers players a new type of weapon - the Carnage Manica, which unlimited potential is supposed to make confrontations more spectacular. There is also new equipment, which the protagonist acquires while participating in competitions.
Fights in the arena are crucial to the development of the plot. In order to unravel further mysteries of the story, the main character must participate in clashes, or rather, cleverly directed performances. The theme of each tournament also suggests the type of weapon most likely to be used in it.
The various competitions are made up of three acts - they have their own beginning, development and ending. The arena itself, where gladiators come to face each other, changes its appearance and functions with each clash (for some challenges it even resembles the city of Harran from the first Dying Light). A fame system has also been introduced into the gameplay - after each battle the protagonist climbs higher and higher in the ranking, and his reputation grows.
A total of four types of competitions are available at Carnage Hall. The multi-stage performances involve playing out apocalyptic versions of the most famous stories known to mankind. Within the carnage, there are no restrictions - you simply have to eliminate the hordes of opponents appearing in the arena. Rushing challenges require you to escape from enemies. Spectacle battles, on the other hand, are one-on-one clashes with the strangest beasts the city of Villedor has seen.
Game modes
The title can be played both solo and in online co-op mode, in which up to 4 players can participate.
Technical aspects
Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties features 3D graphics. The track promoting the add-on is Let out the beast by American musician Deraj.
Extras
Those who own the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the main game automatically get this story expansion. In addition, they are also entitled to the Aristocrat package, which includes the outfit and the exclusive weapon.
