Explanation

In a remorseful Twitter post, the developer assures that it appreciates the community's support and wants to make its actions fully clear to its members. This is fair enough, as e.g. words of the game's lead designer, Tymon Smektala, could suggest that work on the expansion is going according to plan. Instead, the developer focused on implementing fan-awaited features such as improved co-op gameplay, a Field of View (FoV) slider in the console versions of DL2 or the New Game Plus mode.
