Techland began celebrating the 10th anniversary of the release of Dying Light, marking the 10th "birthday" of the entire series. On this occasion, the developers prepared an almost hour-long stream, during which they told more about the series, as well as what players can expect in the near future.
Many attractions are heading to Dying Light and Dying Light 2
So that we can better prepare for the upcoming four weeks, during which a lot will be happening in Dying Light and Dying Light 2, we have received a comprehensive roadmap. The first event has kicked off in the first installment: the popular Hypermode, offering a chance to earn double XP (ends on February 3rd). The next event in line is Low Gravity, followed by the start of Super-Crane and Viral Rush.
It's worth noting that if we complete each of the set goals in a given event, we will receive a weapon classified as "gold-tier." You will find these missions on the second roadmap.
As for Dying Light 2, patch 1.21 will soon be available, and from February 5 to 26, we can earn rewards in the Pilgrim Outpost. If we collect 2 out of 4 trophies, we will receive a new talisman. Upon completing all of them, a weapon known from the first installment of the series will be added to our inventory.
Celebrating the anniversary of the series also means discounts. Dying Light in a special edition (with a skin pack) can be purchased for $5.99 on Steam until February 10th. DL 2, on the other hand, has been included in the biggest sale in history, and for the next two weeks it costs $19.79 (the standard price is $59.99).
New projects are being created within Dying Light
As we know, Techland doesn't intend to end the development of the series with two installments. Dying Light: The Beast is set to be released this year, and in some time, the next, yet unannounced games from the series will appear, which will initiate its "next era."
It's worth mentioning that Tymon Smektala, the head of the Dying Light brand, gave an interview to Gamesradar+ on the occasion of the anniversary, in which he talked more about, among other things, the team's doubts before the release of the first installment and the support received from players.
We maybe were doubting ourselves a little, and then the players stepped in. Players helped us to rebuild our confidence and really believe in [Dying Light]. The passion was worth it, the time we spent on it was worth it, because players get it. Players really see Dying Light as this kind of, somehow, special game. So first of all, we wanted to repay the community [...].
