Black Squad Description
Black Squad is an online FPS created by NS Studio from South Korea. The game is available on PC Windows in free-to-play mode with microtransactions.
Plot
Black Squad is set in an alternate reality where an organization called Viper Circle becomes a threat to global order – under a cover of an international corporation it runs dirty businesses by committing crimes around the world. As a response to its actions the ONZ creates a special anti-terrorist unit known as Global Anti-Terrorist Taskforce also called the Peacemaker. Players are thrown right into the center of the conflict and have to choose one of the sides.
Mechanics
The action in Black Squad is presented from first person perspective. Before we start the game we need to choose one of a few classes – this decision determines our equipment, which can be used on a battlefield as well as special abilities (for example calling an air or artillery strike).
The game offers many weapons such as pistols, assault rifles, shotguns and sniper rifles but it also has melee weapons (for example knives) and various gadgets. It should be mentioned that the appearance of our equipment could be customized. The fights take place on diverse maps such as industrial district, ruins of a castle or streets of a modern city.
Game modes
The main core of Black Squad, released on PC Windows, are fights based on classic PvP rules. The game offers various game modes – besides a classic Team Deathmatch we can also play in Demolition (our goal is to eliminate all enemies or – depending on which side of the conflict we play – defending or destroying certain objects on a map), Assassination (our main objective is to kill a target although victory can be achieved by killing all opponents) and Battle Match (we have to completely destroy enemy base). Depending on which mode we chose we could participate in teams consisting of five, eight, ten and even sixteen members.
Technical aspects
Black Squad runs on Unreal Engine 3 – when the game was released it wasn't using the newest version of this engine, which is reflected in its graphics, which looks average at best.
Misc.
The game was previously known as Viper Circle and its action was supposed to be set in a near future. The changes that turned the game into its current form were made after closed beta-tests which took place in 2013.
