Modern Combat Versus

Modern Combat Versus is a yet another installment in the popular FPS series started in 2009 by the mobile game called Modern Combat: Sandstorm. The title described herein was developed by Gameloft and is now available on PC, AND and iOS (among other platforms). Modern Combat Versus is based on the free-to-play business model with optional microtransactions.

Mechanics

Unlike the previous installments offering quite elaborate story campaigns, the PC, AND and iOS release of Modern Combat Versus focuses mostly on the multiplayer experience. Up to eight players can face each other across diverse maps in one of the several available game modes – the battles take place in the futuristic docks, in the city streets, and in the industrial areas to name a few examples.

Upon entering the battlefield, a player gets to select one of the agents unique in terms of their appearance, preferred weapons, and featured combat abilities. There is nothing standing in one’s way to assume the role of a soldier specializing in close quarters combat or of a sniper eliminating the opponents from a safe distance. A player also gets at his disposal a wide range of weapons and gadgets such as machine guns, shotguns, grenades, and special energy shields that protect him from the enemy fire.

As one progresses through the game, he earns experience points, enters consecutive leagues, and acquires numerous rewards in the form of the main protagonist’s elements of the apparel and the skins for the weapons he carries.

Technical aspects

Even though the mobile releases of Modern Combat Versus for iOS and Android deliver decent quality 3D visuals, the PC Windows release of the game is out of step in comparison to the classic PC games representing the FPS genre.
