Avadon 3: The Warborn
RPG 14 September 2016
The third installment of the RPG series by Spiderweb Software, inspired by the classics of the 80s and 90s. Avadon 3: The Warborn continues the storyline of its predecessors. In the game, we assume the role of a hero whose task is to protect the kingdom from all threats. When his homeland falls victim to a large invasion of monsters and barbarian tribes, his goal becomes to stop it. The action is traditionally observed from the isometric perspective, while combat takes place in turns. The protagonist can become a representative of one of four character classes. It is also possible to have a party that we can fully develop. As per the series' tradition, the story campaign can end in numerous ways and, depending on our choices, the protagonist can even join the forces of evil and conquer the land he was supposed to defend.
Avadon 2: The Corruption
RPG 30 October 2013
A sequel to the cRPG by Spiderweb Software, inspired by the classics from the 90s. In Avadon 2: The Corruption, we assume the role of the eponymous stronghold’s agents yet again, and our mission is to protect it from various threats, starting with regular monsters to neighboring empires’ schemes. Alas, despite our efforts, the stronghold has been attack and partially destroyed. Panic and chaos erupted on its streets, leading to a civil war. What’s worse, a mysterious group of schemers are preparing to implement their dastardly plan with the intent of killing the majority of citizens. Our task is to thwart it, of course. Mechanics-wise, the title does not significantly deviate from the first installment of the series, offering a classical isometric view, several character classes, a turn-based combat system, and tens of primary and secondary quests during which we will face various kinds of enemies.
Avadon: The Black Fortress
RPG 18 June 2011
An old-school fantasy RPG inspired by the classics of the genre. It was developed by Spiderweb Software, the creators of a similar series called Avernum. In the game, we assume the role of a knight in service of a powerful sect, Avadon, and our task is to protect the alliance formed by five grand nations. The hero we control can be a representative of one of four available classes and he is joined by non-player characters so we travel the world in a 3-member party. The gameplay is observed in the classical isometric view and takes place in real time. However, once we encounter an enemy, it switches to a turn-based system. As we gain experience, the protagonist advances to higher levels and we decide the direction of his development. Avadon: The Black Fortress features simple graphics inspired by the classics of the 90s.
