Assetto Corsa Evo Description
Assetto Corsa Evo is a full-fledged continuation of the racing simulation from 2014 and the third installment of the series created by Kunos Simulazioni studio. It was created after the release of Assetto Corsa Competizione in 2019 (which was a kind of spin-off). The game was published by 505 Games.
Gameplay
Just like "the first game", Assetto Corsa Evo is a realistic driving simulator that evenly distributes emphasis between race-built and road cars. The novelty in this installment is the virtual economy and progression system with licenses completed as part of a single-player mode. It unlocks access to increasingly advanced vehicles (although we can still rent any car for a quick ride or race). Options for personalizing and upgrading cars have also been added.
In addition, the developer has improved the physics (especially tires and suspension), artificial intelligence systems, and simulation of atmospheric conditions compared to their previous works. Virtual opponents should differ from each other in personality and gradually learn how to effectively compete on the track. The weather in the game includes dynamic drying of the surface based on where the car tires actually come into contact with it, and different conditions in various parts of the tracks.
Open world
In addition to authentic race tracks, Assetto Corsa Evo offers an open world that covers approximately 1600 square kilometers of area in the German region of Eifel, around the legendary Nurburgring. The creators meticulously recreated the most famous places in this area, and even included real service points, such as car rental companies or workshops.
Engine, VR
Unlike AC Competizione, which was powered by Unreal Engine, Assetto Corsa Evo runs on a proprietary engine from Kunos Simulazioni studio (similar to the "first game", although a new technology was developed for this entry). The game supports virtual reality goggles and triple screens.
Mods
AC Evo is set to offer full support for mods, just like the first part of the series, when it comes out of early access.
List of cars
The game features a wide range of licensed racing and road cars (from various eras) and even concept models from many well-known manufacturers. At the start of early access, AC Evo included 20 vehicles from 16 brands:
- Abarth - 695 Biposto
- Alfa Romeo - Giulia GTAm, Junior Electric Fast
- Alpine - A110 S, A290 Concept
- Audi - RS 3 Sportback (4th generation)
- BMW - M2 CS Racing (F87), M4 CSL (G82)
- Chevrolet - Camaro ZL1 (6th gen.)
- Ferrari - 488 Challenge Evo, 296 GTB
- Ford - Escort RS Cosworth
- Honda - S2000
- Hyundai - i30 N Hatchback
- Lotus - Emira
- Mazda - MX-5 Cup (ND)
- Mercedes-AMG - GT2
- Porsche - 992 GT3 Cup
- Toyota - GR86
- Volkswagen - Golf GTI Clubsport (Mk8)
Assetto Corsa Evo on PS5 and XSX/S
Console versions of AC Evo are set to be released along with the game's exit from PC early access. The preliminary release date for version 1.0 has been set for the fall of 2025.
