Wrath of the Druids is the first big expansion for the action RPG Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. The expansion was developed and published by Ubisoft, the company responsible for the brand.
Plot
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Wrath of the Druids takes us on a journey into forested Ireland, where Eivor is tasked with uncovering and investigating the secrets of an ancient cult - the Children of Dan - and facing the danger that lurks there. To do this, the hero (or heroine, depending on your choice) must win the favor of local rulers, led by the great king - Flann Sinna - whose war campaign he decides to join.
The situation in Ireland is very different from what we could see in England presented in the basic version of the game. Eighty years after the first Viking invasion and forty years after their settlement in Dublin, this warlike people have already abandoned their plans to conquer the island. Instead, the Vikings have managed to assimilate with the local population and their cultures have blended and complemented each other.
Attention to historical detail is a hallmark of the series and this add-on is no exception. Experts in Viking and Irish history, such as Professor Clare Downham from the University of Liverpool and Professor Sean Duffy from Dublin's Trinity College, have been involved in the development of the add-on.
Mechanics
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla - Wrath of the Druids does not bring fundamental changes in game mechanics. Instead, the authors focused on introducing new content. The biggest novelty is the previously unavailable land. The game features a variety of side missions and quests as well as new enemies, including creatures from Irish folklore. In addition, Eivor can wear new armour and test out previously unavailable weapons (including sickles), as well as decorate his body with fresh tattoos and hairstyles and trim his beard in new ways. In addition, new mounts and cosmetic additions to our settlement await inspection.
Technical aspects
Because Wrath of the Druids is not a standalone DLC, it requires the base version of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla to work.
