Club management in Football Manager 2018 Football Manager 2019 Guide and Tips
Last update: 14 November 2018
Managing a football club is a hard nut to crack, and Football Manager 2019 is no different. You will often have to take notes, draw tactics, set up and give specific instructions to players, and even conduct motivational talks and stand in the spotlight during press conferences. What's more, your task will be to set up training sessions, arrange fixtures, hire additional staff, extend and sign contracts and search for new talents. Thankfully, the broad club staff can take some of the burdens off your shoulders and take care of the right things, if you allow them to do so.
Staff
As a Football Manager you will have at least a few people at your disposal, who can undertake some responsibilities at the very beginning of Football Manager 2019. It's worth taking advantage of this opportunity, and certainly in case when you're a beginner. The multitude of options, tables and reports in Football Manager 2019 may not allow you to remember all the important issues and, for example, you miss a contract or do not prepare your players for an important league match. The vast majority of assistants in your club will be able to cope well with the duties assigned to them. This will allow you to focus on more important aspects of team management. Of course, as long as you feel strong, you can take care of everything yourself and without the help of assistants. The following is a list of tasks you can delegate to assistants and staff members with a description of what you should do on your own.
Hiring employees
Allowing your assistant to take over the hiring process of a new staff will deprive you of the opportunity to choose the people who really meet your expectations. What's more, you won't be able to negotiate a contract with them either. On the other hand, when you hand over control to the assistant, you do not have to worry about the right number of staff members.
Renewal of contracts
While it's comfy not to worry about contracts that will expire soon, it's better to have control over it. If you give the assistant all control over the contracts, you have to take into account some inconveniences. It should be noted that due to the impossibility of negotiating a contract after handing over this task to the assistant, the player's salary may increase drastically. Moreover, if the assistant conducting the negotiations does not reach an agreement with the player, the contract will not be extended and you may lose a valuable player. It's much better to prolong all contracts by yourself.
Transfers
It is best to deal with transfers personally. Thanks to this procedure you will avoid a situation in which completely useless players will get to the club, and at an extraordinary price. Another case may be when one of your players is sold for an unsatisfactory price, completely without your knowledge.
Friendly fixtures
If you do not care about the choice of fixture partners, you can delegate this task to your co-workers. On the other hand, if you start planning friendly matches yourself, you can better prepare the team for the upcoming games, and also earn some extra money if you manage to attract a well-known team.
Training
If you have no experience in planning the training and are afraid that you will exaggerate with the intensity of training, leave it in the hands of one of your co-workers. However, you must take into account that you will not be able to choose the skills you want to train. If necessary, you can always make corrections to the training plan that the assistant has prepared for you.
Motivational interviews
In most cases, assistants perform well during motivational interviews. Although, they can sometimes get confused a bit. If you want to make sure that your team is motivated to play, talk to them in person.
