Working on meadows | Machines Farming Simulator 18 Guide
Last update: 05 July 2017
This category contains information about a few machines that are used on meadows and allows you to get grass/hay - those machines are used for mowing, teddering, gathering or creating bales.
Lawn mowers, tedders and side-delivery rakes
A basic lawn mower - mowing the entire meadow will take a lot of time
There are two models of lawn mowers. You should try to get Lely Splendimo 900 MC as quick as you can. It allows you to mow three green belts instead of one and it has a small load size. Tedders are machines that turn a mowed grass into hay. It happens instantaneously. As always, the difference between models is the width. Hay can only be collected by using balers - if you try to collect it by using forage wagon it will only collect grass. Side-delivery rakes are simple machines that are used for making rows of grass/hay/straws. Thanks to that it is easier to collect them. You must absolutely buy the better model Lely Hibiscus 1515 CD. The basic version has a flaw - sometimes, when you order computer to collect those rows of grass or hay it will go through the entire field instead driving only on the appointed belts.
Forage wagons and balers
As it was already said many times in this guide, forage wagons are used for collecting mowed grass or straws (hay that was collected by this machine becomes grass). There are two available models, their only difference is in their storage capacity. These wagons are not that pleasant to use - you should get balers instead of them and make hay for animals. The reason for that is how slow those wagons are, even when attached to the most powerful tractors.
There are two machines that can create bales: New Holland Roll-Belt 150 and New Holland BigBaler 1920. The first one creates cylindrical bales, the second one creates dices. You only need to attach it to a tractor and drive on hay/straws. Bales are created automatically behind the machine and you can easily pick them up and store. In order to collect them you can use a tractor with front end loader and place them on Fliegl DPW 180 wagon or use forage wagons (Ursus T-127 for cylindrical bales, Arcusin FSX 63.72 for dices). The only difference between these shapes of bales is that the wagons that collect them have different capacity: you can have 8 cylindrical bales and 16 rectangular ones.
