The burned down house | Walkthrough The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
You are now in the boiler room that used to be locked. Take interest in the highlighted valve next to the turbine - press the interaction button to give it a spin. Keep doing that, until, instead of open, it says closed on the housing. Exit the building and approach the yellow building, where Dale committed suicide.
To the left of the entrance, there is a wall traversing the river. Follow the path, over two small bridges, up until you reach a small elevation, with ruins of a burned house.
The entrance is between the statues of the lions. Keep going ahead and turn right. You will reach a round plate with symbols on it. Use the option to sense. Note the word corvus - this is the key to solving this simple puzzle.
Turn each one of the six spheres with letters on them, up until they form that word - start with the letter connected with the center, by means of the metal arc. Open the door and enter the basement.
As you go ahead, you will walk a room with cowering burned corpse. Touch it and you will start the last scene that requires you to determine the chronology of events. You need to put the scenes in the following order:
1. Ed with canister at the door
2. Ethan holding the edge of the big table
3. Ed and Ethan opening the metal door.
4. Ed sitting on the floor.
After the cutscene, enter the final room and approach the Ethan sleeping on the mattress - use the option to wake up. In front of you, there opens a map of the Red Creek Valley, with the locations of puzzles marked. If you missed any of the puzzle, you can do that now - you only need to go to the elevator on the dam, ride to the top and find the appropriate location.
If you have solved all of the puzzles in the game, you only need to watch the ending. Well done!
