Managing squads in Enlisted is one of the main gameplay elements. On this page of the guide you will learn all the most important information about the squads. Here you will learn how to unlock new squads, upgrade them, buy new soldiers and increase their rank.

Unlocking new squads

New squads will be unlocked as the campaign progresses.

Unlocking new squads is a natural process. You will obtain new squads as rewards for reaching certain levels of the campaign. By playing (and especially winning) matches in a given campaign, you earn points that will help you reach the next levels of the campaign. In the Campaign tab, you can see what reward you will receive for reaching a given level. Keep in mind that you need to acquire squads (as well as soldiers and equipment) separately in each campaign.

You can bring the squads you've obtained to battle. You can use four squads at a time, which includes three infantry units and one vehicle (either tank or aircraft) unit. This limit is increased to six squads if you have a premium account.

Skillfully selecting your squads is extremely important and greatly increases the chance of winning. We recommend visiting another page of our guide that describes this topic in detail: Best squad sets - how to select?

Upgrading squads

Each squad has its separate upgrade tree. - Enlisted: Managing squads - Basics - Enlisted Guide
Each squad has its separate upgrade tree.

Unlocking a squad in Enlisted is just the first step on a long road. You must also remember to upgrade it regularly. Using a given squad during a match lets it acquire experience points. Reaching the next level earns you a point that you can spend on squad upgrades. This allows you to increase the size of your squad and assign more soldiers to it or increase the rate at which they gain experience. This can be done from the Upgrades window. In this window, you will find the Personnel upgrades tab, where you can buy upgrades for the soldiers of a particular squad. For example, you can unlock the option to have an additional weapon.

Buying new soldiers

You can buy new soldiers in the Logistics tab.

In Enlisted, you aren't limited to the soldiers assigned to your squad by default. You can switch and add new soldiers to each squad. To do this, you will need to purchase additional units. The soldiers available for purchase can be found in the Logistics tab. You can buy them with special points called Order for troops, which can be obtained by completing the achievements listed in the game's main menu. Of course, the squads have limited slots, so you will need to increase their size (as described above).

Upgrading soldiers

Every soldier can also level up individually. Each level allows you to select one of three random perks. The perks grant the soldier permanent bonuses that can increase their health or weapon reload speed.

You can increase the rank of your soldiers in the Academy tab. - Enlisted: Managing squads - Basics - Enlisted Guide
You can increase the rank of your soldiers in the Academy tab.

The random selection of perks is not the only limitation. You will also need to pay attention to the given perk's category. Perks in Enlisted are divided into three categories: Mobility (green shoe icon), Vitality (red heart icon) and Firepower (yellow fist icon). Each perk takes up a specific amount of points in a given category. In turn, each soldier has a maximum pool of points per category - if the cost of the perk exceeds the remaining point pool, you will be unable to select it. However, perk category pools can be increased by sending soldiers for training in the Academy window. You will have to select three soldiers per training session. One of them will return with an increased rank and thus an increased point pool, while the remaining soldiers will disappear forever.

You can also upgrade your soldiers by equipping them with new items. To learn how to do this, check out a separate page of our guide: Weapons and equipment - how to get?
