9.Final Fantasy XVI

Final Fantasy XVI, Square Enix, 2023

  1. Genre: jRPG
  2. Release date: June 22, 2023
  3. Developer: Square Enix
  4. Platforms: PlayStation 5 (later available on PC)

This is one of the games that has gone through a major delay. We were expecting it a year ago, but the creators decided to postpone the release. At the beginning of December this year, we also learned that the game is 95% complete, so chances are it won't take another year to complete it. The sixteenth part of the cult Japanese RPG series will allow you to play as Clive Rosfield – the son of the Archduke Rosaria – in an epic story of revenge and brotherly love. Together with him and various companions, sometimes quite unusual, we will travel through the kingdoms of the world of Valisthea.

The biggest difference compared to Final Fantasy XV is abandoning the open world in favor of six, more concise areas of separate realms. This should give a better impression of the story taking place all over the globe and eliminate the big disadvantage of the previous game, i.e. boring side activities. There will also be dynamic battles conducted in real time. It will be very interesting to see how FF will turn out as a game only for PS5 and PC.
