Unciv

  1. Genre: 4X turn-based economic strategy
  2. System requirements: "potato"
  3. Microtransactions: no
  4. In essence: a mobile Civilization 5

The original Civilization VI does have a portable version available on Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck. There, it's actually possible to play all the games from the series! If you are one of the people who envy this, I have good news. Neither of these consoles is necessary to be able to enjoy the representative of the legendary series in the mobile version. A game heavily inspired by Civilization V is available on Android, smartphones and tablets. Unciv, as it's called, is a completely free and open project.

The mechanics are very similar to what we could expect from playing a strategy on PC. So, we have research trees, settling cities, exploring the map, fighting battles, conducting diplomacy and a whole host of other elements characterizing the series, with an emphasis on its fifth installment. Most of all, the graphics and interface have changed. The controls on the phone are nice, but when our civilization is getting bigger, the map can become a little messy. Personally, I'd rather play Unciv on tablet.
